At first when we started poetry I thought I wouldnt like it because what we did years in the past.

But when I read the poem When Butter Flies I knew I would love it. The poem When Butter Flies is filled with Homophones. I help a peanut stand, I wave a football fan, the tittles one and theres way more. It makes the poem fun and exciting. Ive learned to read or write poetry well, with a mission. I like to read poems by Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein. They both make the poems fun to read! I hope to do that in this book. They used alliteration, rhythm, metaphors, rhyming which make the poems go off the scale 1-10, 10 being the best. In this book you will read poems that will make you laugh or cry. If you dont like poetry you will learn to love it! Poetry will inspire you and make you think differently!

Magic Sandras seen a leprechaun, Eddie touched a troll, Laurie danced with witches once, Charlie found some goblins gold. Donald heard a mermaid sing, Suzy spied an elf, But all the magic I have known I had to make myself -Shel Silverstein

I choose this poem because it has a powerful message. That message is the only magic that exists is made by your own hard work. This proves you dont sit around the whole day or everything you want you wont get. The poem magic has a good beat and some lines rhyme. If you read the poem twice you will be able to find the real meaning. There is alliteration in every line of the poem. This makes it sound fun and catchy. The poem makes me feel happy and joyful inside. I can connect this poem because when I broke my leg I sat around all day and it didnt get me anywhere.

Smart My dad gave me one-dollar bill Cause Im his smartest son And I swapped it for two shiny quarters Cause two is more than one

And then I took the quarters And traded them with Lou For three dimesI guess he dont know That three is more than two

Just then, along came old blind Bates And just cause he cant see He gave me four nickels for my three dimes, And four is more than three

And I took the nickels to Hiram Coombs Down at the seed-feed store And the fool gave me five pennies for them And five is more than four

And then I went and showed my dad And he got red in the cheeks And closed his eyes and shook his head To proud of me to speak -Shel Silverstein

I choose the poem Smart because it is funny! The poems moral is dont try and trick someone because they can really be tricking you. Dont think you are so smart you can outwit people. There is a good rhythm to the poem. Some lines rhymed in the poem. The first line rhymes with the third and 2 and 4 dont rhyme at all or the other way around. This is why I like the poem Smart!
