YOUR LEARNING OUTCOMES

Rocket French is about getting you there: to your first holiday, business trip or learning experience on French speaking territory! 45 Lesson Plans are included in three key groups. Each one works independently or as part of the set, with additional options to focus on word building. Each Lesson Plan has been designed with a learning outcome for you, the user. Learning a new language will engage you in new ways of doing things, in new ways of expressing yourself. You will also be remembering this information differently to what you learnt before. Every time we learn something for the first time, we give our memory skills a brand new challenge! Lesson Plans 1-45 are designed to help you reach the following learning outcomes: To converse comfortably about who you are, by using appropriate methods of expression To have an overview of the language structure, and the ways in which it is different to English. To be able to find your way around a French speaking environment. To be very familiar with the sound of French, the intonations used, and confidently use your own voice to express yourself. To build on your knowledge of words and a have a manageable choice of expressions available. To open windows on to the engaging French culture, some of its customs and style.

FOUR UNIQUE FEATURES

Each Lesson Plan has four unique features, Fast Forward!, Rocket Audio! Action Replay! and The Activities!

Fast Forward!
This feature will take you ahead of time to preview principles which are explained throughout a particular module of this course. Typically, this highlights grammar rules and principles of language structure. In this way, you will know what to expect from each module.

Rocket Audio!
Rocket Audio lets you hear how French is meant to sound. You can choose from over 3,000 individual audio tracks, and you can go through them one at a time or pick and choose areas that you particularly wish to work on. Just click on the word or phrase that you wish to hear. All words and phrases that numbered are audio tracks. For example, click on the phrase below: 19.11 Vous allez You are going Each audio track has the word or phrase pronounced in English first, so that you can have an attempt yourself at saying the word or phrase in French. After a short gap, the word or phrase is said in French so that you can check up on how well you did. Finally, after another short gap, during which time you can have another go at the pronunciation, the word or phrase is said again in French.

Action Replay!
This is a review of the material covered in each module so that you can practice with dialogue, expand your knowledge and have an easy reference to return to. Its a great way to review the topics covered in each Lesson plan.

The Activities!
Push through the fear of getting it wrong! The multi choice questions and activities in each of the three groups of Lesson Plans will help you get it right time after time, until it becomes second nature to you.

HOW TO SAY IT!

This pronunciation summary is intended as a guideline. Begin by reading through the English Sound equivalents down the left column. Once you have read them through, say them out loud two or three times whilst paying attention to the sounds you are making as you say each word in English first. This will guide you to use the equivalent French sound as you begin to read through the list on the right in French. Once you have practiced the sound in English, move across to the French word and say it over a few times. This introduction to pronunciation is intended to ease you into making new sounds with your own voice, which you can then build on by listening to Rocket Audio tracks in this program. Remember that in normal conversation in French, words are often linked together to create connection and rhythm to spoken communication as a whole.
