The Profile and Goals of Organizations Researched

Executive Summary
This report describes the background and goals of CNA (Canadian Nuclear Association) and AECL (Atomic Energy of Canada Limited) are two of the major Canadian Nuclear Organizations. The reports purpose is to provide information about these two major organizations and how they are playing an important role in Canada and globally as well by using nuclear technology in a broad range by making safe and secured environment in order to create healthy and tranquil life. CNA and AECL are the leading Canadian nuclear industries who are creating opportunities by building a better place through the usage of nuclear science to a broad range along with all the peaceful purposes. Vision of both organizations could be slightly different but they have mostly focused on expanding their industries to provide energy, health, environmental and economic benefits to Canadians and to the rest world. CNA and AECL have the same mission which assures to create a safe and secured environment while using nuclear technology for making better and healthier place to live in. To ensure the boundless benefits of nuclear science to the world, CAN and AECL should: 1. Expand facilities and opportunities based on nuclear science for the welfare of human being. It will make a better place for human being by creating nuclear energy which is very eco-friendly and easy to use.

2. Create a safe and secured environment while using nuclear technology in order to create a healthy world to survive.

3. Imposing the regulations and laws of using and producing nuclear reactors strictly in order to avoid mishaps in the surrounding of nuclear reactors and protect the nation from its adverse effects.

Introduction to Nuclear Reactors and its Organization Industry

Nuclear reactor plays a crucial role in Canada for the production of electricity and propulsion of ships. CNA (Canadian Nuclear Association) and AECL (Atomic Energy of Canadian Limited) are two of the major Canadian nuclear organizations which are trying to make it a better place by using nuclear science to a broad range of uses and all for peaceful purposes. Drawbacks of Nuclear Reactors: Nuclear power plants have several drawbacks which can harm the life of human being greatly. In past histories, there are numerous accidents that have happened due to nuclear reactors. The number one problem of nuclear power is the radioactive waste. The waste from nuclear energy is extremely dangerous and it has to be carefully looked after for several thousand years (10000 years according to United States Environmental Protection Agency standards). There are not really any solutions to this problem, except for nuclear waste treatment. (http://materkat.wordpress.com/2010/12/13/advantages-and-disadvantages-oftodays-nuclear-power-plant/) Not only this one problem, but there are other issues such as, it is very expensive to build and maintain, hazardous for the employees and what not. Background of the Problem: The causes of nuclear reactors accidents are voluminous. However, the core problems include the reactor damage due to external events (Tsunami in Japan), operator error due to management error (lack of proper training), and due to misreading instruments. There could be loss of coolant accidents, uncontrolled power excursion accidents which all together represents lack of safety in nuclear power plants.

Purpose of the Report: The study demonstrates the role of nuclear reactor in Canada and its organizations. It also shows the drawbacks of nuclear reactors. On the other hand, the study also includes solutions and recommendations by explaining the Canadian Nuclear organization Industry and its goals. Scope of the Report: The study includes the disadvantages of nuclear reactors and the core issues with it. It also includes the profile and goals of the organizations who are dealing with nuclear power plant in Canada and worldwide as well. The study excludes the advantages of nuclear reactors. Sources and Methods: The study was conducted by online research.

PROFILE AND GOALS - CNA (CANADIAN NUCEALR ASSOCIATION) Profile: Canadian Nuclear Association represents the nuclear industry in Canada. Their opportunity is to build a better world by applying nuclear science to a broad range of uses, all for peaceful purposes. The company has more than 70,000 Canadians, exploring and mining uranium, generating power, supporting nuclear medicine, and advancing Canadas nuclear advantage worldwide. (http://www.cna.ca/about_cna/cna_vision/). Vision for Growth: Our vision is to seize the opportunity presented by the global nuclear renaissance by building and sustaining a strong, vibrant and expanding nuclear-based industry, benefiting Canadians, our members and stakeholder. (http://www.cna.ca/about_cna/cna_vision/). Mission: To demonstrate Canadas nuclear expertise, to promote domestic and international acceptance of Canadian nuclear technologies and to create a positive public, political and regulatory

environment for advancing the nuclear industry in Canada and in global markets.(http://www.cna.ca/about_cna/cna_vision/).

PROFILE AND GOALS AECL (ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA LIMITED) Profile: AECL has served the nation for more than 60 years as Canadas premier nuclear science and technology organization. As the CEO of this company has stated, AECL is also an important enabler for Canadas nuclear industry. As a tier one nuclear nation, Canada is involved in every aspect of the nuclear industry from uranium mining and processing, to the construction and operation of nuclear power plants, to decommissioning and waste management. AECL contributes to Canadas knowledge advantage in these key areas, positioning the Canadian nuclear industry for success domestically and internationally. (http://www.aecl.ca/site3.aspx)

Vision and Strategic Outcome: AECLs vision is to be a global partner in nuclear innovation. This statement indicates that the companys motto is to expand their industry worldwide in order to revolutionize opportunities in nuclear field. Moreover, the companys strategic outcome is that the Canadians and the world receive energy, health, environmental and economic benefits from nuclear science and technology, with confidence that nuclear safety and securities are assured.

Goals: The company has some core goals which have influenced the condition of nuclear reactors in an optimistic way. Ensuring the Canadian nuclear sector remains safe and productive with access to S&T resources to address emergent technological challenges, ensuring Canadas nuclear safety and security through experience, expertise and technology and federal activities, regulation or policy related to nuclear or radiological issues are supported through the work delivered in this program (http://www.aecl.ca/site3.aspx) are some of the companys major goals.

Conclusion: 1. CNA and AECL, both companies should expand their facilities and opportunists based on nuclear science for the abundant benefits of Canadians for a better life.

2. Both companies can use their nuclear technology by creating a safety and secured environment in Canada and in global market to establish a healthy world.

Recommendations: 4. Expand facilities and opportunities based on nuclear science for the welfare of human being. It will make a better place for human being by creating nuclear energy which is very eco-friendly and easy to use.

5. Create a safe and secured environment while using nuclear technology in order to create a healthy world to survive.

6. Imposing the regulations and laws of using and producing nuclear reactors strictly in order to avoid mishaps in the surrounding of nuclear reactors and protect the nation from its adverse effects.
