Study Abroad Programs

In today's world, with internet and e-learning, it has become important to make education global and work in multi-cultural and multi-national groups for achieving specific goals. DIT has been working towards this ever since inception. We have been collaborating and working closely with the following institutes

As a consequence of the above collaborations, DIT students have the following opportunities 1. Transfer to any of these universities after two years of satisfactory completion of studies at DIT and get a degree from that university after completing two years 2. 3. there. Apply for Summer Internship at the end of three years study at DIT. Work on Community Projects with students from these Universities.

Distinguished personnel from the United States India Educational Foundation (USIEF) have visited DIT and addressed our students about education in USA. A Satellite Information Center affiliated to the Unites States International Education Foundation (USIEF) has been established at the DIT campus. It is open to the public (Mon to Sat 9.30 am to 4.30 pm) and provides detailed information about higher education in USA, information on international universities and programs. Application forms for SAT, GRE, GMAT and corresponding learning material with CDs are readily available at the Center.

Scholarships
A Merit Scholarship for BTech First Year students has been instituted to motivate and inspire students to strive for quality education.
1. Based on the merit of All India Rank AIEEE (a) 1 - 15000 (80% of the tuition to be waived) (b) 15001-20,000 (70% of tuition fee to be waived) (c) 20,001- 30,000 (50% of tuition fee to be waived) (d) 30,001- 40,000 (30% of tuition fee to be waived). Based on marks obtained in Physics + Maths in qualifying examination. (a) 90% - 94.99% marks in Physics + Mathematics in class XII: 25% of tuition fee to be waived off. (b) 95% marks and above in Physics + Mathematics in class XII: 50% of tuition fee to be waived off. S. No. (2) is applicable to U.P. Uttarakhand, CBSE & ICSE Boards only. In case any individual falls in category (1) as well as category (2) then the student will be entitled to higher of the two rates of fee waiver. This scholarship scheme is applicable only for the BTech first year tuition fee.

Programs for Foreign Nationals

DIT is authorised by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to admit Foreign National Students (FNS)/ Person of Indian Origin (PIO) students to select BTech, MTech & MBA programs. A comprehensive list of the programs offered is given at the end of this document. There is now an opportunity for FNS & PIO students to pursue MTech from DIT after completion of their graduation in Engineering.

Scholarship for Weaker Sections The Institute also takes initiative to arrange scholarships for students through the Social Welfare Department of the Uttarakhand State Govt. wherein scholarships are provided to the students belonging to SC/ST and OBC categories with income below the prescribed limit of the Govt.

Lecture Theaters Our theater styled classrooms are designed to seat 60 students at a time, fitted with audio-visual aids and networked for live presentations. Students are encouraged to make AV based presentations. Seminar Hall The feature packed air conditioned multiple Seminar Halls are equipped with Over Head and LCD Projectors, Multimedia Kits, PCs, Wireless PA System and every conceivable tool facilitating acquisition of knowledge. These are often the venue of choice for workshops, seminars and other programs, which are regular events on the campus. Wi-Fi Campus An open learning atmosphere is promoted through the use of a 30 MBps Wi-Fi enabled setup across the campus. This allows learning to move out of the classroom where students can discuss, learn, share and grow. Publications DIT brings out many publications including Pratibimb - an annual magazine and Aarohan - a quarterly newsletter. Sports Center Our philosophy is to provide opportunities to allow exceptional people to do exceptional things. DIT boasts an impressive list of graduates who have gone on to state and national level success and leadership. Large open spaces are devoted to modern playgrounds for basketball, tennis, badminton, volley ball and much more. Caf A caf with a large sitting areas and open spaces provides hygienic beverages and snacks at competitive rates to students, faculty and visitors. Banking For the convenience of students, a full fledged branch of Oriental Bank of Commerce is right on the campus. Students can open their accounts with the branch for banking transactions. Not only this, an ATM of Axis Bank is also on the campus whereby students can withdraw cash and avail all ATM facilities. Business Center 'Sprint', a boutique class business center is centrally located on the campus. It offers an extensive range of conveniences viz. photocopying, laser printing, color scanning, binding & finishing, lamination, stationery & nick-nacks, instant color photos, fax & courier to name a few. Transport DIT has its own one 52-seater bus and ten 42-seater buses for the convenience of students and staff. These buses ply across the city mornings and evenings to ferry staff and students to and fro the Institute. Besides, students travel in comfort for educational trips, industrial visits, outings, picnics and the like. Security DIT is deeply concerned about the safety and security of all its students. The entire campus is under 24x7 CCTV surveillance whilst the hostels have round-the-clock security system. Healthcare Our on-campus Infirmary takes care of the sick and is open round-the-clock. A male and a female physician visit is scheduled daily. The Institute also has a tie up with a premier hospital in town to cater to any emergency.

Full Automation of the Institute The Institute has deployed ERP software developed by TCS. The software includes total student administration including registrations, results, attendance, staff management, library and financial management. The implementation of this software provides parents direct access to their wards performance. Internet Connectivity The high quality persistent bandwidth offers high speed and uninterrupted 30 MBps Internet connectivity from anywhere on the campus through the campus LAN. The network is centrally connected to the Worldwide Web, adequate to meet the net browsing and e-mail needs of the DIT community. The bandwidth is sourced from Reliance Communications and Airtel to ensure maximum uptime. A strict policy to ensure the highest level of network health and safety is in place. Data Center DIT builds and maintains a host of collaboration systems, mainly websites or portals, facilitating global exchange of knowledge and ideas among students, faculty, recruiters and the alumni. Access to the library, extensive online database is facilitated by the high tech datacenter. Audio Visual Facilities The AV center is equipped with modern audiovisual equipment. Campus on Move Program from Hewlett Packard Oracle (OCP), Net Technology and Communication Technology (Using Matlab) DIT has signed an MoU with HP for training and software development. Under this program HP has been providing training to our students and faculty members on emerging technologies. Besides this on-line Prometric Certification Courses for .Net, Oracle (OCP), Communication Technology, GIS, Java etc. are also conducted to prepare the students for the current needs of the industry beyond the university curriculum. CISCO Network Academy at DIT Cisco Network Academy at DIT is a unique initiative by Cisco Systems and DIT to train students and faculty on practical aspects of networking technologies so that they are better prepared for industry requirements. Cisco offers entire training contents through e-learning courses include CCNA and CCNP certification. DIT has certified CISCO trainers for these certifications. Red HAT at DIT This program offers entire training content through e-learning to students and faculty on the Linux platform. The program includes RHCP certification.

R&D Achievements

Conference on Emerging Trends In Energy Engineering (ETEE-2012) - A National Conference On Emerging Trends In Energy Engineering was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering in March 2012 at DIT aimed to provide a common platform to the researchers, academicians and industrial experts to share their knowledge and expertise in the field of Energy Engineering and formulate recommendations for implementation by the stake holders. An Entrepreneurship Cell has been established at DIT by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The aim of this cell is to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship in students and the society as a whole. Amongst the most distinctive characteristics of DIT is its close-knit and integrated residential community. Residents at DIT have the twin advantage of studying in the education capital of India while enjoying the serene environs of the campus located at Dehradun. Housing is offered on come -first get-first basis an approximate 1,800 students live on this large 21 acre campus allowing for a perfect blending of academic and residential life. DIT has four on-campus boys hostels with a capacity of over 1,150 students and two girls hostels which together house over 600 girls. These hostels are served by separate kitchens, dining and recreation areas for boys and girls.

Setting into your new surroundings will be easy thanks to the American style studio apartments - one of its kind in North India, with ultra modern amenities. Each apartment comprises of a common room, ensuite bathrooms, and three rooms (each being shared by two students). Six students share an apartment and this gives them the advantage of being in a hostel as well as in the privacy of their own room. The apartment clusters have common rooms with TV, an in-house tuck-shop, STD-ISD facilities, and indoor sports facilities. The hostel premises are wi-fi enabled and a computer center is set up within the premises with 24x7 Internet availability. The multi-level hostel mess are equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and our modern kitchens across all hostels manned by expert chefs dish out pure vegetarian, nutritious and hygienic food including daily servings of milk, fruits and desserts. Youre never going to miss good food here. The hostels have round-the-clock professional security in place. All common areas are under 24x7 CCTV surveillance. Wardens reside within the hostels and look after students with utmost care. Saturday nights are movie nights. Films to be screened are decided by the students themselves in consultation with the hostel warden. An entire new floor houses indoor recreational activities viz., snooker, carom, table tennis, chess and the like. Not only this, there is a modern gymnasium with treadmills, cross-trainers, cycles, weights and all latest equipment right within the hostel blocks for health aficionados.

Entry Requirements
DIT is focused on ensuring that the application process for students is a clear and easy process to follow. We have dedicated academic advisors who will work with you to help you in your course choice and application process. Outlined below is a summary of the entry procedures for the BTech & MTech programs as prescribed by the University. BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY Four Year Full Time Program
Seats Distribution General Seats 85% (50% Uttarakhand seats + 35% All India seats) Management Seats 15% Eligibility Student should have passed 10+2 Examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry/Bio Technology/Computer Science/Biology. Admission Procedure 100% admissions to the BTech Program would be made on the basis of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education. The admission to 85% of the total seats (50% Uttarakhand and 35% All India) would be made through State level counseling to be conducted by Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun. For details visit the Uttarakhand Technical University website at www.uktech.ac.in. The online counseling is done on the merit based on ranks obtained by the students in All India Engineering Entrance Examination. Reservation policy would be applicable as per the State Govt.15 % Management admissions are made directly by the Institute on the merit of AIEEE. For Management category admissions, candidates need to register online at the Institute website. Candidates having more than 60% aggregate in class XIIth are only eligible for registration. NRI Seats Out of the total seats, 5% seats are reserved for the NRI candidates which are filled up strictly as per the norms of AICTE i.e. by the NRIs who have passed the qualifying examination with Physics, Maths and Chemistry/ Computers/Bio-Technology or Biology from an institute situated outside India which is considered equivalent to 10+2 Examination by the Association of Indian Universities, India. Tuition Fee Waiver Seats 5% supernumerary seats are available under Tuition Fee Waiver scheme. Under this scheme the State Admission Authority compiles a separate merit list for this category. Candidates whose earning parent income is less than ` 2.50 lakh pa shall be eligible for admission under this category. Examination for Diploma Holders/BSc and for lapsed seats, if any after the counseling, candidates can register with the Institute.
