Daily Classroom Procedures

Students are expected to make sure that they are following the classroom rules as well as the classroom procedures. When entering the classroom, they are to turn in assigned work to the appropriate tray and sit in assigned seat before the bell rings. If they are to be late, they are to give the teacher the tardy and sit in the assigned seat quietly. If a student does not have the

assigned homework completed, late homework will be deducted 5% for each day that it is not turned in. The teacher will put all assignments in the missed work folder if a student is absent. It is the students responsibility to pick up this work and turn it in when the teacher designates (note: this day will be written on the assignments). When the class is walking to and from the computer lab, they are expected to walk quietly down the hall way and respect the lab. If students are to need help with classroom work or assignment, they may raise their hand or come in before school, during lunch (with permission), or after school.

Positive Reinforcements
If students are to follow the classroom rules and daily procedures, they will earn Pennock Points. Pennock Points are slips of paper that are like classroom money where if they earn enough by following classroom rules and daily procedures, they can buy fun school supplies or raffle tickets for bigger prizes (i.e. gift cards, movie tickets, etc). Along with Pennock Points the students will be verbally positively reinforced. If students are following classroom rules and daily procedures, they will be recognized verbally for modeling the behavior that is expected while in the classroom.

Consequences
If students do not follow the classroom rules or daily procedures, they will be given a verbal warning (1 per day) first. If students still do not follow the rules and procedures, they will be asked to stay after class to talk about their behavior. If the teacher notices that this student or students are acting in ways that are more extreme than violating one rule or procedure (i.e. threats, consistent breaking of rules, bullying, anger outbursts, disrespect, etc) the teacher will administer a detention and a meeting with the student and the principal. These consequences

will be followed with all students and if there are any concerns please come and talk with the teacher.

Reflection
The one expectation that I will teach and model for my students will be Please respect others and their opinions by remaining quiet while others talk and raise your hand to respond to others comments. I will model this and teach it to my students by respecting their opinions by not interrupting them when they talk. I will also model/teach this to my students by allowing them the space to express their opinions during class time. If I give them the respect that I expect the other students to give them, then the students will see that everyones opinions are valuable even though they may not agree with them. I will ensure that the students have learned what I expect by going over what respect means and how I practice it and how I expect them to follow examples. By following through with the positive reinforcements and consequences, I will ensure that they practice what I expect. What I found easiest about this assignment was writing the classroom rules. I found this the easiest by thinking about what I have seen in my observations. I have been in three classrooms and they have been completely different behavior wise. While writing these rules, I just thought about what I didnt like seeing in those classrooms and put those behaviors in my rules. The most challenging part of this assignment was operationalizing the behaviors in my rules. It was hard not to put dont do this, dont do that, etc in my rules. It was also hard to be positive in them because I have always had rules that say do not do in the classroom. I had to re-teach myself to be a positive reinforce in the classroom.
