The Angels of Judgment was founded in 690.M41 as a successor chapter to the Ultramarines.

Naturally it was organized according to the Codex Astartes written by Roboute Guilliman and followed the combat doctrines established there in. The Angels first large combat engagement was during the Corinthian Crusade when 3 full companies was committed to the combined crusading forces. At the time the chapter was operating with a space fortress monastery as its base. In 702.M41 The chapter played a pivotal role in halting, containing and ultimately destroying a massive Orc Waaagh led by the now infamous Warboss Glorbag Irontooth. The orc grip on the nearby system was to firm to be easily cleansed thou. As a reward for their war effort the Angels was granted ruling rights over a newly settled planet on the Eastern Fringe. They where employed with the task to cleanse the nearby systems of the orc menace and remain ever vigilant to protect the sector from the rise of another Waagh. The planet was named Thyreos as it was a shield to protect the Imperial citizens against the green tide. Off course fighting the orcs was not the only campaign the Angels took part in and the Strike cruisers of the Angels of Judgment was deployed all over the Ultima Segmentum. The successful first period of the relatively young chapter was soon to be shadowed by a series of catastrophically incidents. In 741.M41 the battle barge Pax Imperia en rout back to Thyreos after completing a 12 year long crusade in the Danari sector was lost. It was believed the ship somehow lost its way in the warp and was assailed by the powers of chaos and destroyed. In 742.M41 it was classified as MIA. With one fell swoop the chapter had lost 4 companies with full support of vehicles and personnel from the chapters armory. But this was just to be the first step towards the tragic fall of the Angels of Judgment. The Pax Imperias mission on its return had been to reinforce the AoJ forces on the planet Graia that was beset by a horde of Greenskins. Left without reinforcements the AoJ force was badly mauled in the fightings and when they where relived by forces from the Relictors chapter the remaining companies regrouped back to Thyreos to rebuild the strength of the chapter. In 745.M41 the chapter was still recruiting and rebuilding their forces, most of the companies was bulked out with fresh recruits and still they where under strength and lacking in numbers. Suddenly the Monitor stations on the edge of the system started broadcasting an intruder alert, mostly they where garbled messages about an fleet with Legio ships and then the connection was severed. The defenses was hastily raised and within a few hours the defense batteries surrounding the planet started firing at the enemy ships closing in on the planet. The few outnumbered ships orbiting Thyreos fought a loosing battle trying to buy time for their brother marines. Soon the skies was darkened with the descending drop cocoons of the enemy. An all out battle for the planet commenced and the Angels fought valiantly making the enemy pay dearly for every foot gained. Much to the surprise of the marines the bulk of the bug fleet left the system and continued onwards towards Ultramar. The force left behind was more then enough thou and one by one the Strike cruisers where crippled and destroyed. And the situation on the planets surface was desperate as the AoJ forces was pushed back on every front by the sheer number of the enemies. After a week of fighting it was clear the planet was about to fall there was no escape for the beleaguered defenders and in their last strongpoint, the Chapter fortress they prepared to sell their lives dearly. High above the planet the situation was equally desperate and of the once proud astartes fleet remained only the battle barge Aetrnum and the strike cruisers Judicium Imperis and ingenuitas. Suddenly like a ghost out of the past appeared another imperial ship heading straight into the heart of the fleet of organic ships. It was the Pax Imperia who had finally returned from the twisting grip of the warp. She didnt return any of the hails sent to her by the Marine ships and silently like a ghostship she just sailed into the midst of the enemy. Suddenly in a bright flash of burning plasma the Pax Imperia erupted in a gigantic explosion taking many of the enemy ships with her into the burning inferno of her death. The noble sacrifice of the ship bought enough time for the remaining troops on the planet surface to evacuate onboard the Aetrnum. The now crippled alien fleet was preparing to limp away and escape into the imaterium of the warp. It was obvious that Thyreos could not be saved and without hesitation it Was declared exterminatus and bombarded from orbit until the surface buckled and heaved as the magma from the planets core spewed forth and consumed the planet. With most of their brother marines dead and their home transformed into a burning inferno the remaining Angels made a solemn wove to avenge the death of their brothers and when the Hive ships descended into the warp, the Angels of Judgment followed in hot pursuit.
