New Year Blessing for 2013

Oh Great Spirit I raise smoke to the four sacred winds and the four corners, so that the blessings can reach my brothers and sisters all in every corner of Great Mother Earth while the smoke disperses all over Father Sky and lit by Grandmother Moon. Let the smoke pass to each their blessing and do away with all sorrows and unhappiness, fill their homes with love, and the light of your wisdom. If any be sick, cure them; if sad, make them happy; if they have needs, fulfill them. Protect them from all evil. Please Father keep them well in good health, give them long life and wealth. Give them all your love as they love you. They can give testimony to your power and mercy, and most important your love. Oh Great Father in heaven I love you with all my heart as I love my brothers and sisters all. I am your servant and theirs. I ask for only one thing give me strength to keep going on doing as I do on the Red Road. Amen, Amen, Amen. Prayer Created by Cherokee Billie

WINTER - BRRRRR

by BearHear t

January and February are the coldest months of the year and we are inside for most of these days. This season is both loved and hated by many - I am a lover of the season. I love looking at the barren trees that glisten in the snow or drip with rain. I love the grey skies that hide the sun from our view. I love the short days that end with a burst of color at sunset. I love the many birds seeking the seeds stuffed inside my bird feeder. I love the opportunity to sit by a warm fire and read, or write. I love hot cocoa or warm soup on a very cold day. There is much to be thankful for on these cold winter days but if you truly dislike winter, in about 10 weeks on March 20 we will welcome the first day of spring!

A Positive Thought In The Midst Of Some Sad Events

by BearHeart

In reference to all the terrible events that occurred in 2012 in which so many lives were needlessly lost, such as hurricane Sandy, the shootings in the Colorado theater and the Sandy Hook Elementary shootings, Maya Angelou stated..."I think we must surrender the despair of unexpected cruelty and extend the wonder of unexpected kindnesses to ourselves and to each other. 2013 can bring us the chance to be kind to each other and kind to ourselves. We deserve each other and each other's generosity." It got me to thinking ... wouldn't it be wonderful if everyday each of us tried to create a random act of kindness toward each other or a stranger? Perhaps something simple like bringing cookies to our co-workers, maybe putting a quarter in a car meter that is about to expire, a few flowers brought to a friend or someone who isnt feeling well. Imagine the smiles each of these acts would bring. Simple acts bring about volumes of smiles along with great positive energy. Positive will always out weigh the negative. The more we engage in positive feelings and experiences the better it is for everyone because the positive will grow! Maybe every day is a little too much to start out with, we can try to offer an act of kindness once a week - that's it just once a week! You will feel good and that good feeling will continue to expand. Give it a try then write to me and I will print your story of kindness in the newsletter. Let's see what we can do in 2013 to create love and happiness. Send your story to : tribalwhispers@gmail.com

New Moon And Full Moon Explanations

During the winter we close our outdoor hoop due to weather. The rain, wind and cold are not good for our health nor are they conducive for prayers. Tribal Whispers looks forward to opening the Full Moon season every year. It means that every month starting in March or April through November we will be able to do outdoor ceremony with friends who want to experience this beautiful way to pray under the stars. Afterward we visit and enjoy some tea and cookies to ground ourselves. During the New Moon we dont offer our outdoor ceremony but encourage everyone to do some private ceremony for yourself or invite a good friend or two to share in an indoor ceremony of prayer and meditation. One person is the facilitator one month and someone else leads the following month. Give your ceremony a theme and make at least 4 rounds in which everyone has an opportunity to share. This creates a beautiful, strong bonding for friends as well as connecting you to the web of prayers that circle our Mother Earth on this night.
