1. Customization On Installation
This is Adobe Reader X is customized using Adobe Customization Wizard X. To start the installation, just run the shortcut "Install" that will execute following command: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe -i AcroRead.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroRead.mst Following is the customization made: 1. Installation Options Make Reader the default PDF viewer 2. EULA Suppress display of End user License Agreement (EULA) 3. Online and Acrobat.com Features Disable All Updates In Adobe Reader, disable Help Purchase Adobe Acrobat Disable Help Digital Editions Disable Product Improvement Program Disable all Acrobat.com access, including initiation and participation
.Note. On 2012-01-07 <Checkers.api> reinstated, without which certain form like I-130 cannot be openned.
< MakeAccessible.api> -Converts untagged PDF to tagged Adobe PDF. Tagged PDF can be read by a screen reader and is a necessity for accessibility concerns. In addition, Tagged Adobe PDF can be reflowed with the Reflow plug-in as well as saved as a variety of output formats (such as XML, HTML, and RTF) for repurposing. For more information on creating accessible PDF refer to http://www.adobe.com/go/accessibility. <PDDom.api> - Structure and content toolkit used for accessibility and content repurposing. <PPKLite.api> - The Acrobat(TM) Security plug-in provides signature and encryption services. Supported services include: public key encryption and decryption, public key signatures and signature verification, integration with Microsoft Windows certificate and cryptographic services (MSCAPI, Windows only), direct support for industry standard PKCS#12, password-protected private key storage files, and support for Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management. <reflow.api> - Reflows the contents of a page to fit the width of the window. <SaveAsRTF.api> - Filter for exporting PDF to various formats: In Acrobat: DocX (Word), RTF, XlsX (Excel), HTML, Text, etc. In Reader: Text. <Search.api> - The Search plug-in serves as a backend for providing search services. It also loads indexes for special documents that contain the AutoIndex key. <Spelling.api> - The Acrobat Spelling plug-in allows users to check the spelling of Acrobat Forms text fields and Acrobat comments. <weblink.api> - The Acrobat Weblink plug-in allows users to link to web pages from PDF files.
5. Disable Updater
To disable Adode Updater add following registry key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\FeatureLockdown]"bUpdater"=dword:00000000 .Note. Basically the updater has been disabled during the customized installation (see Point 1 above.)
6. Accessibility Setup
Click Edit Accessibility Setup Assistant In the first page of Accessibility Setup Assistant dialog box click to select only Set all accessibility options In the second page of Accessibility Setup Assistant dialog box select none In the third page of Accessibility Setup Assistant dialog box select Infer reading order from document (recommended) Confirm before tagging documents In the fourth page of Accessibility Setup Assistant dialog box click to select only Only read the currently visible pages In the fifth page of Accessibility Setup Assistant dialog box click to select only Disable document auto-save Reopen documents to the last viewed page Display PDF documents in the web browser Finally click [Done] button.
.Note. This setup can only be done while <Accessibility.api> is in the plug_ins.
