Every new beginning is some other beginning’s end...
After nearly the three years with the UCC, Amber Fogarty, our
Director of Development, is moving on. Effective February 2,
2009, Amber will be the Director of Development and
Communications for Front Steps, the local non-profit
organization that manages the Austin Resource Center for the
Homeless (ARCH). We are thankful for Amber's hard work and
dedication in establishing the UCC's development program. Join
us in wishing her well!
We are pleased to announce that we have hired Ana-Cristina
Gonzalez as our new Director of Development. Ana is a 2002
UT grad who was very active at the UCC. She brings a deep
passion for the mission of the UCC, along with her own fond
memories of her years as a student leader. Ana will begin her
employment on February 16th. Please welcome Ana to the UCC

8 pm Mass Parking Changes
Effective March 1st, 8 pm Mass attendees will no longer be
able to park in the lot at the corner of 20th and Whitis. This
lot had been leased by St. Austin’s on Sundays and they had
generously allowed us to use it for our late Mass. Since St.
Austin will no longer be leasing that lot, we can no longer use it.
The UCC Staff is investigating other possible parking
arrangements and will announce any new parking in the bulletin.

The Social Justice Team will be selling Fair Trade Chocolate
after all the masses on next Sunday, February 8th for Valentine's
Day. There will also be Micah 6 T-shirts for sale for $10.

Info Session for Spring Break Border Crossing
The UCC is organizing a 3 day border-crossing trip for a group
of 10 students the second weekend of Spring Break, Friday 3/20
– Sunday 3/22. We will travel to Piedras Negras with the purpose
of learning about the maquiladora situation along the U.S.-
Mexico border and building relationships of solidarity and under-
standing with our Mexican neighbors. If you are interested,
please attend our Information Session today, (Sunday 2/1) at 9:15

Date Auction!
The 7th Annual Dinner and Date Auction, hosted by all UCC
student organizations, will be held SATURDAY!. This year's
theme for the evening is Super Heroes. All will begin at 7:00pm
in the Holy Spirit Chapel with a free dinner which will include
Panini's and dessert. After dinner, the auction will commence…if
you are the highest bidder, you will win a date with one of your
favorite UCC student representative or staff – complete with a
gift certificate to a local restaurant. There will be a raffle during
the evening and you do not have to be present to win. The pro-
ceeds from the Date Auction will benefit the University Catholic
Center. Join us for an evening of food and fun!
Micah 6 Food Pantry
UCC participates in the ecumenical Micah 6 food
pantry through donation and volunteering on
Thursdays and Saturdays. Many of the people we
serve are homeless. Don’t forget our “neighbors” who have
nothing during the fall. Please bring canned goods and packaged
dry goods to Sunday Mass for the baskets near the fountain. We
ask that you continue to support the Micah 6 Food Pantry with

Gay and Lesbian Support Group
With the encouragement and support of Bishop Aymond, the
UCC is forming a support group for Catholic students who
identify themselves as gay or lesbian. The purpose of this group
is to provide a safe and confidential place for these individuals to
meet for discussion, prayer and fellowship. For more
