Please see that these issues are added to the March 26 agenda as agenda item. Please apprise if you are refusing, and, if you are capable, the rationale for your refusal. -- Jessica Sent from my iPhone On Mar 22, 2013, at 3:10 AM, "Debra & Gary Kolrud" <gdkolrud@comcast.net> wrote:

To the Everett School Board, As the Board of Directors to Everett School District, you were each included in this very long email thread (below) as I made my continual request to have my email address included in the Everett School District legal notice distribution email list, so that I could be informed of special meeting of the board of directors along with notifications of any other legal notices. Each Director is also aware, both the Superintendent and Board President Russell denied my request to be added to the Everett School District email legal notice distribution list. I was repeatedly told by President Russell and Superintendent Cohn to sign up for the district In-touch system to receive notices of the Everett school board meeting, which I did, however I have yet to receive any notification of the special meeting that has been scheduled for today at 4:30! I've also reviewed the legal notice section of the Herald, and there is also no legal notice informing the public of such meeting, there is also nothing on your board website, or any notice on the district home page or under "legal notice" on the district website about today's special meeting!

Once again, I will share with you that most all Districts allow requester email addresses to be included to their legal notice distribution list, and I ask once again that the Everett School District allow requester email addresses to be included on this list as well. I hope you will reconsider to help take step to ensuring the public is properly informed of special meeting, especially since the In-system did not send out this notice as promised!

Since the board does not have a policy that specifically excluded citizen emails from being included to this distribution email list, please add my email or the very least have a board discussion on this issue. It's important the District take steps forward to ensure the public is fully informed of meetings of the Board of Directors!

I would also like to know when the Directors received their notification for the speical meeting scheduled today at 4:30, the day and time?

Thank you,

Debra Kolrud

Dear Ms. Kolrud

Thank you for your interest in the work of the Everett School Board and the policies and procedures of the Everett Public Schools.

Dr. Cohn has denied your request to be added to the legal notices email distribution list and over a series of exchanges has provided you ample rationale for doing so. Receiving an answer to ones question and receiving the answer that one wants are two very different matters. I consider further discourse on this topic an unwise use of staff time and public funds. As President of the Board of Directors I have directed Dr. Cohn to cease further correspondence with you on this matter. If you desire to receive notice of the meetings of the board please do by registering with the Districts In Touch system or keeping up to date on the meeting schedule through Board Docs.

Sincerely, Jeff Russell Everett Public Schools Board of Directors, President

Gary This leaves only one question left unanswered:

Does anything in Everett School District Policy prohibit persons other than board members and the media from receiving legal notices?

It is a simple yes or no question, Gary -- perhaps if you limited your answer to one of those two options, it would eliminate the confusion you have as to whether you are being responsive or not.

Debra, thank you for acknowledging my answer to your question. By your response, you clearly indicate you have the answer to your question: "the policy outlines who WILL receive the materials [you] request, and that [I] am following that policy". It seems that we are now on the same page with respect to your question and the answer to it: the policy provides who will receive the materials, and I am following the policy.

Now that you have clearly re-stated the answer to your question, I trust this concludes this email series.

Dr. Gary Cohn

Superintendent

Everett Public Schools
