In Eastern Chrisanity, for the week of Easter, the
tradional greeng given from one person to another is Christ is risen!
to which the reply is
He is risen indeed!
Although it is given in many languages, the simple greeng holds within it a very profound profession of Easter faith, and we could do worse than to emulate such a custom.
Today we celebrate, remember and revel in the Resurrecon of Jesus, of his victory over death, a victory that ushered in a new era of the Kingdom that Jesus proclaimed in word and deed. For over two thousand years Chrisans have celebrated this day, not just once a year, but each and every day.
As we start our journey through the Season of Easter (yes, its a season not a day) lets remember that simple greengand all that greeng implies about who we are and what we believe.
A happy and holy Easter to all!

being in a state of grace, the sacramental confession of sins, the recepon of Communion, praying for the intenons of the Pope, and detachment from sin (even venial sin). Bisuor Bitts Ens1rn Mrssncr I was asked a familiar queson again just recently: "Why do we call it Good Friday when it's the day they killed Jesus?" The short answer to this queson is, of course, that the day when they did those bad things to Jesus turned out to be a very Good Friday for us. What looked like disaster and the triumph of evil, turned out to be the great victory for goodness.
It somemes happens in everyday life that losers do actually win in some respects. People can get their way by cheang or deceiving or simply overpowering good, honest people. But even our disnctly awed human judgement can oen see that the person who refused to ght dirty, who remained true to his or her standards of behaviour, deserves our respect more than the cheat or the bully ever could. It is said that everyone loves a winner; but there are mes when everyone respects the person who, at great cost, has refused to return evil for evil.
Jesus' death on Good Friday was an instance of that 'good loser' phenomenon on a grand scale. His integrity and faithfulness under duress were honoured, in the event, not only by his friends and the beer types among the bystanders, but ulmately by God. His willingness to 'lay down his life for his friends' was honoured when God raised him to life again on Easter morning. This is what we celebrate at Easter: the ulmate victory of good over evil, of love over malice, of innocence over power, of jusce over either cruelty or indierence.
In our lives we all have hard mes. They can make us hard. We can begin to look to our selfinterest, and not care too much how we achieve it. They can challenge our belief in love and jusce and decency. But, if we've understood about Easter, such mes challenge us, too, to follow Jesus' way, to take up our Cross and go on, as he did for us. We recognise in his Resurrecon the value in God's eyes of a life lived well and faithfully. And we recognise that, since Christ has opened the way, our own Very Bad Fridays can be made into Good Fridays. If we can stay true in the tough mes, and think of others more than we worry about ourselves, then we too will surely have our Easter morning. Oun Li1uncv Toonv
Responsorial Psalm Response: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his love has no end. Let the sons of Israel say: His love has no end.
The Lords right hand has triumphed; his right hand raised me up. I shall not die, I shall live and recount his deeds.
The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner stone. This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes.

When we process forward to receive Communion, we have been asked by the Australian Bishops to adopt a common and unied gesture of reverence before doing so. In Australia that gesture is a bow of the head and shoulders (GIRM, 160). Any other form of reverence, including a genuecon, should therefore be avoided. Communion by selfinncon (selfdipping) is never permied, since we receive Communion and never take Communion. Please refrain from this inappropriate acon. We regret that we do not have the physical facilies to oer communion while kneeling, and respecully ask you to refrain from kneeling to receive Communion while part of the procession, since this is contrary to the nature of the Communion procession itself. Your cooperaon with this request is very much appreciated.
