Rewriting Frankenstein
How can your environments impact who you are and the choices you make? Pick one of the following scenes from the play. Think about how the situation affected the Monster. Think about how if the scene unfolded differently, the Monster may have changed. Rewrite one of the following to show how they would have impacted the Monster and his choices in life if the situation had been different. 1. 2. 3. 4. When Frankenstein sees the monster for the first time and his reaction is to run away When the monster is in a town, where dogs and towns people are after him When Felix shoots the monster When the monster kills William

Your scene should have between 2-4 characters. 1 or 2 of these characters may be your own characters (not from the play). Your scene will have two parts: 1. What happens to the monster (the situation) 2. His choices as a result (the impact) Which scene will you rewrite? What is the situation in the scene? What do others do to the Monster? The scene is when Frankenstein meets up with the monster and his reaction is to run away. The monster has just come alive and is still very confused of what is happening around him since he has just been created. Frankenstein gets scared of the monster he gets worried because it looked scary and freaky. They (The people who see the monster and Frankenstein) dont accept the monster because of his appearance; they all say things to his face and think hes some gross kind of creature. Frankenstein acts scared and freaked out because of the monster. The other characters in the scene are also chasing, shooting and being to the monster.

How will you change the situation? How might things happen differently during the scene? So when Frankenstein meets up with the monster instead of acting all scared he greets him nicely and helps educate the monster so that he knows how to act like as a human being. However, the monster knows that he is different from other people, but he can still accept that because Frankenstein is helping. He also lets other people know that the monster is his friend and protects him from getting attack. When people first see the monster they will attack and tries to protect Frankenstein, this makes

How does this affect the Monster? What impact does it have on his life? What choices does he make as a result? The monster seeks revenge because even the person who created him is scared of him. The monster also feels like everyone is afraid of him without even getting to know him. The impact that it has on his life is he went from being a good person to a bad person and now I think he hates his life. He makes bad choices and he chooses to take revenge and kill people who are related to Frankenstein instead of asking Frankenstein for the things he wants. The monster wants to go away and see life and as no one accepts him, that causes him to change and acts like the monster people want him to be like. The monster also sees himself in a reflection and things that he is very ugly, this causes him to do much more, that isnt such nice things that he chooses to do. He turns from being a good person to a bad person. He wants to take revenge because everyone is afraid of him, even his creator, Frankenstein. How will this affect the Monster? What impact will it have on his life? What choices will he make as a result? This will affect the monsters life quite a lot because first people will definitely like him more and it will also change the way he looks at the world and what he thinks about himself. Instead off hating everyone and everything around him, he will appreciate Frankenstein and at the same time it will also make Frankenstein a better person. I think how I rewrote the scene it has a good effect on the monster, Frankenstein, Elizabeth and the people around him, since people are being friendly to

Even though he knows that he is When the choices Frankenstein made was to help the monster and monster and Frankenstein are becoming really close to not abandon him. each other and becoming best friends Clerval feels excluded and he then tries to break them apart. How does he do it? So Clerval tries to make the monster misunderstand by telling him that Frankenstein is TRYING to be nice and he created the monster just to proof that he can do it and to tell people he is the smartest person alive. Later on Elizabeth enters the scene and she is also mad that Frankenstein is only spending time with the monster and none with her. She feels like she has come a long way to visit Franienstein and he is ignoring her and spending time being besties with the monster
