What Do You Like About Springtime?
Maybe youre like me. I appreciate all the seasons of the year. But I think I like springtime best of all. If you also enjoy this upcoming time of year, let me ask: What do you like about springtime? Maybe its the warmer temperatures. Its nice to get outside for a while without shivering after too long. If you do like springtimes warmer weather, then praise the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ (Malachi 4:2). He is responsible both for the warmth of spring and the pleasures of paradise. Or is it that springtime offers you more daylight to enjoy? Its certainly not as dark as it was during the depths of winter. If you appreciate these brighter days, thank the Light of the World, Jesus Christ (John 8:12). He has enlightened each of us, both in our bodies and in our souls. Do you appreciate the growing leaves, the bright green grass, and the blooming flowers of springtime? If so, be sure to adore Jesus Christ, who is the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25). All of creation celebrates his presence at this time of year. And his is an eternal life that you will also share. One other thing to enjoy about the springtime: even more leisurely days follow it. If you also appreciate summer, you know that when spring comes, summer is just around the corner. Just so: Jesus springtime resurrection and your own! will usher you into an unending summertime of eternal life. And thats worth celebrating any time of year! - Pastor Walther

Pebbles from the ROC - ROC Rummage Sale - Write a Hymn... Pebbles From the ROC...

Recently we transported a bunch of teens (mostly unchurched) from the ROC to one of our churches for worship. Before worship one of the teen girls had a puzzling look and then asked Pastor Mueller why there was a banner in front showing a lamb with a cut and blood spilling out. The teen felt the scene looked cruel and gory. Since there was not enough time at the moment to explain the Old Testament Passover and sacrifices pointing to Christ, Pastor Mueller simply told the girl, "Jesus, our Savior and God, like an innocent lamb, the Lamb of God, willingly shed His pure blood on the cross in your place so that your sins would be completely paid for. Look the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world". The teen girl was immediately satisfied with the answer and the puzzled look was gone. Thanks be to God. Doctrine Review - Stewardship - Messenger Info A Little Review of Doctrine: Personal Use of the Keys Do you remember that every Christian has a personal set of keys, issued by Christ himself? Its true! They are not, of course, physical keysbut rather spiritual ones. Christ issued to the Apostle Peter a set of keys (Matthew 16:19). But these werent at all Peters exclusive possession. Instead, Jesus issued them also to every Christian (Matthew 18:18). Keys always convey the authority to lock and unlock something. These keys from Christ are none other than keys of the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 16:19). They are the announcement of the forgiveness of sins in Jesus name, or the forfeiture of that forgiveness through unbelief (John 20:23). Of course, we must apply Christs own criteria to the use of the keys: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives (1John 1:9-10). So, we comfort penitent sinners with forgiveness; we refuse forgiveness to the impenitent, in order to lead them to repentance.

Page 4

All of this is exceedingly applicable in our day-to-day lives. The next time a loved one is caught in a sin, remind him, Sin locks us out of heaven. But upon the confession of transgression and confidence in Christ, you are released from sin. And the next time a fellow Christian apologizes to you, dont say, Aw, thats all right. No, say instead, I forgive you, and better yet: Jesus forgives you, too. Thats Good News! And its further good news that Christ has commissioned us as his instruments to proclaim it.

Stewardship Status & An Anecdote What little known ministry does your offering support? Pastor Walther quotes the following: It was just one visit. It was less than a single hour. But it was productive. So far: renewed church attendance, instructions in the Lutheran Christian faith, and a marriage have transpired all to the glory of God and the praise of Christ. Plus: there is promise for a few more confirmations. Those are the results of just one of your pastors Tuesday night visits on people we had not so regularly seen in worship. The above blessings never would have happened without the generous support of your prayers and your offerings.

The Work of Our Pastors & Others: Baptisms at Saint Marks?

Spanish Outreach... Goodly crowds from our Spanish Language congregation spent the end of March celebrating La Pascua de la Resurreccin (Christs Easter Resurrection)both Palm Sunday evening in Spanish, and on Easter Eve bilingually. Pastor Dale continues to do the bulk of visitation in our Mexican congregation, especially in connection with St. Marks School. Pastor Walther does much of the preaching and teaching. The Easter festival also gave him opportunity briefly to visit every home, as he does on a quarterly basis. These days are filled with plenty of other pastoral activity. A couple of baptisms take place in March and April, as does a youth confirmation with the English-speaking class. Pastor Walther is currently visiting three homes on a weekly basis to offer instructions to five adults with thirteen souls in their households altogether. Worship in April will have us focusing on Las historias de la resurreccin de Jesucristo segn San Lucas (The accounts of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, according to St. Luke). We are getting closer to kicking off the 2013 Brewer Season!! There is still time to join the wonderful group of volunteers this year and help support our school. For anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, you still have time. There are plenty of training dates yet and we would love to have you join us this season. Miller Park offers at least one training session a month even after the Brewer season gets going. The game dates range from April through September. Please contact Megan or Melissa to get more information or if you have any other questions. Thank you and we look forward to another wonderful season! GO BREWERS!!

Womens Conference Even as God led the Israelites through the desert after they left Egypt, he also leads us on our journey through this life. Instead of a pillar of cloud or fire, he has given us the Bible, the basic principles he wants us to follow, and ample examples from which we can learn. While the truths of Scripture are constant, a study of the application of those truths will be very helpful for all Christian women who find themselves in leadership positions. Join us as we come together to better understand Gods desire for each of us as laid out in the Bible, with a special focus on the unique calling God has for women as leaders, and then discuss the application of these Biblical truths to our varied personal lives.
