Complaint to H I Q A As an elected representative of the people of North Tipperary I wish to make a complaint to H I Q A about the complete lack of safety in the Limerick Regional Hospital which has seen it close twice to new admissions in the last week and has also seen the Limerick Fire Chief called to investigate the safety of the Hospital due to overcrowding. I have over the last number of years called on yourselves to investigate the safety of the Hospital through Nenagh Town Council and North Tipperary County Council but alas the calls have gone unheard . It has been clear to me for some time that the Limerick Regional Hospital in its present form is not large enough for the population in the Mid West Region without the three Hospitals that have been decommissioned to most services. The Limerick Regional Hospital has been in crises for the last week and it is now at the situation where people have lost faith in its ability to provide safe health services thereby either delaying seeking medical attention or going to seek medical attention in other regions thereby skewing the health plan of this state. This is putting pressure on other reliant services with Blood tests facing a 7 day back up and there is also a complete lack of parking in the area. It is also putting serious pressure on the Ambulance services with patients being ferried between Hospitals as the Regional Hospital fills ,leading to uncontrolled movement of patients who are being moved not down to medical conditions but as reactions to overcrowding. I am calling on you to investigate the whole Reconfiguration policy and The safety of the Limerick Regional Hospital due to the undermining of the roll out of the reconfiguration which is being undermined by management and structural deficiencies in the region. I would also like a full report from you on what requests have been made to you to investigate the Limerick Regional Hospital in the last 4 years and by whom and what you have done to this date .
