Objectives
: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: i. read a short story of Petes Sheep using the correct articulation and pronounciation with guidance. ii. pronounce and blend words with the phoneme /i:/. found in the story Petes Sheep in groups. iii. identify words with /i:/ sounds found in the story Petes Sheep individually.
Teaching aids
: Pictures of sheeps, video clip on nursery rhymes of Baa Baa Black Sheep, powerpoint presentation of the Petes Sheep story, letter cards, worksheet, sentence strips.

Activity Set Induction 1. Teacher shows pictures of sheeps. 2. Teacher asks pupils questions based on the pictures shown. 3. Pupils answer the teachers questions.
Notes
Sample questions: 1.What are these animals? 2. Have you seen these animals before? 3. Where can you see them? 4. Do you like these animals? 5. Have you touched these animals before?
Pre-reading 1. Teacher plays a short video clip on nursery rhymes of Baa Baa Black Sheep and instructs the pupils to watch it carefully. 2. Pupils watch the video clip carefully. 3. Teacher asks pupils questions based on the pictures shown. 4. Pupils answer the teachers questions.
While-reading 1. Teacher displays the story of Petes Sheep and reads the story aloud. 2. Pupils repeat after teacher using the correct articulation and pronounciation. 3. Teacher asks questions based on the story. 4. Pupils answer the teachers questions.
Sample questions: What is the animal found in the story of Petes Sheep? What are the characters found in the story of Petes Sheep? Why Pete started to count the ship?

9. Teacher divides the pupils into three groups. Each group consists of six members.

12. Teacher displays the story of Petes Sheep and pupils read the story again.
13. Pupils stop reading when they reach the words containing the phoneme /i:/ and clap four times. The first group who presses the buzzer, they sing the jazz chant and get points.
Post-reading 1. Teacher distributes a worksheet with some pictures to the pupils. 2. Pupils colour the pictures with the /i:/ sounds. 3. Pupils list the words with the /i:/ sounds.

Appendix 1
Closure 1. Teacher asks pupils to sing the song of Baa Baa Black Sheep. 2. Teacher asks pupils what they have learned today.
Assessment: Pupils complete a worksheet by identifying pictures with the phoneme /i:/ and list the words with the /i:/ sounds. Remedial: Teacher guides pupils to read the story of Petes Sheep with correct articulation and pronounciation while focusing on the phoneme /i:/.
