Decanter Centrifuges

Most industrial processes need separation of liquids from each other or liquids from solids. Valutech offers a complete range of separation equipment from Alfa Laval, the world leaders in this technology. The working principle of decanters is based on sedimentation or settling process. Mere settling by gravity is an extremely slow and uncontrolled process. Decanter centrifuges provide a continuous mechanical separation of liquids from solids. Instead of using the force of gravity for separation, centrifugal force is used which can be up to 4000 times greater. A wide range of different solids can be separated from one or two liquid phases continuously. The Working Principle Decanter centrifuges work by generating a centrifugal force that presses the solid particles outside against a rotating bowl, while the less dense liquid phase forms a concentric inner layer. The solid particles are continuously removed by a screw conveyor, which rotates at a different speed than the bowl. The solids are compacted and discharged from the bowl. Baffles in the centrifuge casing channel the separate phases into the correct flow path. The speed of the screw conveyor can be automatically adjusted by use of a variable frequency motor to adjust the variation of the solids load. Decanter centrifuges are divided into four sections:

Inlet Section - where the feed enters the decanter Screw Conveyor - which conveys and separates the solid phase from the Solids Discharge Section - from where the solid "cakes" exit the unit Liquid Discharge Section - from where the liquid is discharged.

What's Special about our Decanter Centrifuges? Alfa Laval decanters perform exceptionally well in separating solids from liquids in a controlled, efficient and continuous process. They are highly reliable. Capital cost, compared to the capacity of separation, is extremely attractive. Maintenance cost is low. These machines can handle a wide range of solid particles with diameters from 5 mm to a few microns. A special feature of our decanters is the ability to handle slurries with solid content from as low as 0.1% to more than 65%. The ability to accept variations in the feed more effectively is another special feature of our decanters Where are decanter centrifuges used? Chemical Industry: Acids, fertilizers, bleaching agents, organic intermediates Petrochemical Industry: Oil refineries, lubricating oil additives, waste oil stream recycling Ethanol production: Processing of grain alcohol spent wash, molasses fermenter residues Waste recycling: Recovery and recycling of wastes Food Industry: Dairy, Edible oil, Juice, Wine, Animal protein
