Colour Theory - Newton's Color Wheel Software

Open Genius Maker software and click "Colour theory" button. It opens the Colour theory window as shown above. You will see the display area showing 3 overlapping colour spots of Red, Green and Blue. On the right side you may see two menus. One for setting the colour intensity of 3 primary colour spots and the second menu displays resultant colour and shows the percentage composition of the primary colours in making that resultant colour. Move the slider of Red. You will see the intensity of Red spot changing according to the slider movement. Note the change in colour at the center of the display area, which represents the resultant colour of the three primary colour spots corresponding to the set intensity of each colour. Similarly move the sliders of Green and Blue colours. You will see the corresponding change in intensity of the respective colours and thus the resultant colour.

Theoretical Background
Additive colour mixing The term "Additive colour mixing" is used to represent the additive behaviour of lights of different colours as in the case of Newton's colour wheel. This software is meant to demonstrate the additive colour mixing theory of Primary colours. In otherwords, the software represents the behaviour of colours as in the case of mixing of lights of primary colours. Subtractive colour mixing The term "Subtractive colour mixing" is used to represent the subtractive behaviour of paint or ink (or dye or pigment) mixtures of different colours. What is followed in this software ? This software represents only the "Additive colour mixing" theory. Hence the resultant colour seen in the software will be demonstrating the result of additive colour mixing. The colour obtained as a result of mixing paint or ink of similar colour will be entirely different.
