Synopsis:

Over 10 years of Clinical Informatics experience in implementing Epic at 23 different hospitals as an Analyst, Trainer, Project Manager, Project Director and everything in between. I started working on Healthcare implementations on the pharmacy unit at Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta as a management engineer doing usability studies during my Masters in Healthcare System at Georgia Tech. From there I was hired by Philips Medical Systems to work as an Epic Systems employee and implement Epic in a Perioperative environment. When Philips broke off their partnership, they gave us a choice to join Epic or become independent consultants. Having my Usability background and my implementation knowledge, I moved towards Project Management starting with OpTime implementations at Childrens Memorial in Chicago and later all Clinicals implementation at Kaiser Hawaii, where I managed the entire project for Epic on the Clinical Side as a Project Manager/Director role. To find more than PM for Dummies philosophy in Project Management, I took up PMBOK and volunteered with PMI starting 2008, joined the Healthcare Board in 2011 and am the current president for Healthcare Community. My focus has primarily been trying to implement PMBOK methodology as it fits with the fast paced Epic projects. My latest project at Memorial Health System in Miami area was a very successful blend of PMI and Epic approach to implementation. I have done several speaking engagements talking about this exact same topic: Speaking Engagements: 1. CLOSING PANEL DISCUSSION: Are We There Yet?
