Hungary has taken a bold stand against biotech
giant Monsanto and genetic modification by
destroying 1000 acres of maize found to have
been grown with genetically modified seeds,
according to Hungary deputy state secretary of
the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar.
Unlike many European Union countries,
Hungary is a nation where genetically modified
(GM) seeds are banned. In a similar stance
against GM ingredients, Peru has also passed a 10
year ban on GM foods.
Planetsave reports:
Almost 1000 acres of maize found to have been ground with genetically modified seeds have been
destroyed throughout Hungary, deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos
Bognar said. The GMOmaize has been ploughed under, said Lajos Bognar, but pollen has not spread
fromthe maize, he added.
Unlike several EU members, GMOseeds are banned in Hungary. The checks will continue despite
the fact that seek traders are obliged to make sure that their products are GMOfree, Bognar said.
During the invesigation, controllers have found Pioneer Monsanto products among the seeds
planted.
The free movement of goods within the EU means that authorities will not investigate howthe seeds
arrived in Hungary, but they will check where the goods can be found, Bognar said. Regional public
radio reported that the two biggest international seed producing companies are affected in the
matter and GMOseeds could have been sown on up to the thousands of hectares in the country.
Most of the local farmers have complained since they just discovered they were using GMOseeds.
With season already under way, it is too late to sownewseeds, so this year’s harvest has been lost.
And to make things even worse for the farmers, the company that distributed the seeds in Baranya
county is under liquidation. Therefore, if any compensation is paid by the international seed
producers, the money will be paid primarily to that company’s creditors, rather than the farmers.

GMOs will make the food more available at a cheaper price etc and it might for a while but watch what happens when they have a crop failure and no seed left and all the original seed is gone or

contaminated. You can make a difference just by sending GMO information to your elected government officials and keep sending it to them. Once is not enough.

First off, We are Americans. If your going to talk about us get the spelling correct. College age students from Europe including Hungry come to America and want to stay. Calling each other names and blame will not fix the problem. I hate that America imports far more than it exports. Food we export to Europe has less food coloring and chemicals than what is sold in the stores in America. How sick is that.

I

hate the biotech corn field as much as you do, but calling eachother names is not going to solve

anything. Being Educated and well informed is a start. Do you have You Tube? Look up dutchsinse, watch and learn from him. Look up HARRP and chemtrails online. read and learn. While you are educating yourself read up on NATO too. Don’t Stero type us and we will do the same. Oh, and not just fat brain’s get cancer. You have no idea how many children suffer and there is nothing worse than to watch a child suffer, or the loss of a 14 year old friend’s daughter to cancer. Read before you write Hunter. The problem here is, no matter how hard you try to keep your own garden or fields free from GMO’s
there is a natural process that can’t be stopped if these plants are allowed to flourish. Pollination! Bees,
butterflies, all flying insects, and the wind pollinate and mix plants naturally. They can’t tell if a
plant is Genetically Modified or not. So even if you plant heirloom seeds (which I do myself and started
doing years ago) it will still cross pollinate with the Genetically Modified plants. It take away the
option of saving seeds (which I used to do). They are already having problems with keeping the
Genetically Altered Corn out of fields of Organic Corn. The Genetically Modified plants are almost
indestructible making them an even greater threat. Look up Utube “David vs Monsanto” There is a
short version and a vid that is about an hour long but it really explains what has/is happening.
Hungary was right. The only real thing they could do is burn the fields but frankly I am not sure that
will stop the Genetically Altered plants. They may come back up by the roots. We will have to wait
and see, won’t we.
Please be aware that Monsanto is trying to put a patent on Life (seeds)
and trying to get that passed in all countries. That is a really great threat in regards to Genetically
Modified Organisms.

This is in reply to Miss in reply to Hunter. Hunter has not said anything racist here. Criticizing another country is not criticizing another race. You’re accusing him of something very serious of which he is not guilty. Let me encourage you to look up the meaning of racism.

Then a number of respondents here, particularly the aggrieved Americans, should look up the word jingoist. Forget your hurt feelings, concentrate on the issue at hand.

Racist was indeed the wrong choice of word. But what this “Hunter” said was extremely bigoted, which is not any better. It doesn’t matter if he were talking about Americans or the people of any other nation, anyone who says the type of things that he did are either a troll, fishing for reactions (in this case, success!) or a narrow-minded bigot. Perhaps both.

Well dear Hunter, I am neither fat nor brain dead. Your words were very unkind & not necessary. We humans need to unite all over this planet, not separate. Together we will win. We American are having GMO’s foisted upon us. We do not want it any more than you Europeans. We cannot fight a huge company like Monsanto. We are trying, but we get no help from the Liberal media. We need your help not condemnation. We are afraid there is so little we can do, and once the bees start dying from the tainted pollen, we as a species are doomed. And no one seems to care. God save us. God save us all & soften the hearts & minds of the scientists who have created this hell.

I’m with you attila. More Farmers, smaller farms, more quality.
But “they” can control us through expendable supplies, primary through energy (fuel, electricity).
We need to start there and find ways to produce energy effective and environmentally friendly on our
own (forget things like bio-diesel).
If we have free energy we are close to independent. Then we can act sane and compete in quality and
innovation instead against each other in fear of enough colored paper snippets “they” also control.

Aloha dear peoples of Earth. It is time to know, really know, not just say: We Are One. If one suffers, we
all suffer. this is a big picture, and its difficult to see it if stuckness happens in a very little picture.
Think globally, act locally. buy only organic, fresh, local when possible, and take care of yourself this
way. offer to assist with a community garden. support organic farming, and send the message with
your voting purchases. and then send lots of love to the food you eat. feel really thankful that there is
so much abundance of beautiful, organic, NON GMO food for us to consume and return to perfect
health. these are ways to make a change. keep your hearts open to a new beautiful possibility, where
all peoples re cognize the importance of our circle. Especially the folks at Monsanto. Especially the

Bacillus thuringiensis is a naturally occurring soil bacteria that is accepted as an organic method of
pest control. I don’t need to reference, you go look it up all you want. Guess what – it’s natural method
is through a toxin: Bt delta endotoxin. That’s the Bt you’re all worried about in Gm corn. So, you
simply identify the gene for it, insert into the corn genome and the corn does the work itself. Not so evil
gene for it, insert into the corn genome and the corn does the work itself. Not

huh? What we are spraying on our organic food produces the same toxin. You can spray bacteria, or

Response to kfulyo: I know many of these contributors are making emotional comments, and if you
make a scientific statement, most will not know how to respond. You, however, only scratch the
surface on this bt issue. Sure, organic growers have sprayed the naturally soil occuring thuringiensis
as pest, mostly caterpillar control. But to stretch from that to saying it is OK to make the bacteria part
of the cellular structure of an edible plant is like saying if I play in the ocean it is OK to play in a
tsunami. Any GMis a splice of one species of life into another. that does not mean either form of life is
toxic on it’s own. When one organism consumes another for nourishment, does your science know
every subtlety that occurs? Of course not. do you risk feeding your kids a diet of GM’s. If you do, you
are either very unenlightened or maybe you work for one of these companies and have bought into
their onslaught of BS.

know that the FDA allows a percentage of blood to be present in our milk? I can use collected rain water

As a liberal Hippie Douchebag, you should be more what your nickname suggests. Unfortunately, you
have drunk the artificially colored and flavored KoolAid that leads you to believe any testing done
under supervision of our government does anything but serve the monetary interests of the enormous
cartel that is “our” food, and in the process nods and winks only to the deepest pockets. Look a bit
further, and you will find that rodents and birds will not willingly consume GMO-based grains,
proving them a bit more intelligent about their food choices than those of us purportedly higher on the
food chain.
This is not an issue of the alleged intelligence or stupidity of any one group of people residing under
any particular flag, rather it is the universal human endeavor to defeat malice in favor of goodwill for
fellow occupants of this miniscule planet earth.
For those that would critique we living in the US, please remember that your social beliefs, upbringing
and perspectives are the result of what you were taught. Rather than gloat ignorantly in your self-
sufficiency, take the opportunity to be thankful that you were not subjected to massive propaganda
designed from the outset to deceive on every front. Consider that you were fortunate in your struggle
to feed yourselves through farming the land or close cooperation with those who do, and that you know
what you know.
We are all products of our environment, and those who know carry a responsibility to educate those
who do not. Awareness is not the unique right of any human being.

I can’t believe you’d say something so horrific, judgemental and ignorant.
I am Canadian (not American) and unfortunate as it is, our government still allows GMO’s in our country.
As a citizen, there is nothing I can do about the growth of our agriculture, or factory farming, though I do try
my hardest to choose organic, or home grown items.
I
would LOVE to know that my food is completely safe, for myself and my family… and it’s terrible to know

My mother and father immigrated to America after defecting Hungary in the 60′s. Mother has returned to
her homeland over 10 years ago.
The Hungarian Government is much wiser than our own and this explains why my mothers health has
returned since returning. Her health was steadfast deteriorating in the USA. Suffering from diabetes for so
many years that eventually led to a stroke that paralyzed her entire left side.
Mother has lost upwards of 150 pounds and no longer requires the use of a walker.

Hurray for Hungary to have some balls ag these creeps, and Dow is another one in bed w our govts. No one

you imagine the ick animal labs these companies use to mix pig DNA with cirn DNA for example. California

Sue did not say we were less intelligent, she said that we might be less intelligent as a result of the
garbage we are being poisoned with that has been approved and forced upon us by our fearless leaders.
This bull pucky about how this country fought to defend freedom is a real joke, the original ”
Americans” were free and got killed off and rounded up and put into concentration camps. Every time
the aristicrates from Europe ran into some indigenous tribe they tried to wipe them off the face of the
earth or they rounded them up and enslaved them………that is the real history!!! They did it in North
America, South America, Africa, Austrailia, they did it in Scottland and Ireland, need I go on. Our
constitution was patterned after the Iroquois government…BECAUSE IT WORKED and because the
different tribes had been able to live in peace under that system. Somewhere along the way the system
got hi-jacked and now “we the people” no longer have a dog in the fight…….only “we the corporations”
are players and “we the sheeple” are just here to get fleeced. The floride in our water does cause brain
damage, along with the lack of nutrients in our food and the heavy metals coming down from the
chemtrails, along with the insecticides implanted into every cell of our corn and soy. It use to be that
we would pour toxic chemicals on the outside of our fruits and vegetables so we could at least wash
most of it off before we ate it…….now it is inside the very cells of the food and once we eat it, it creates
the new cells that form our bodies. In order for a plant to accept those foreign genes it has to be infected
with a virus….which also becomes part of the plant and infects us when we eat it as well, so we get a
virus to lower our resistance and then we get poisoned by an insecticed……a nice double whammy!!
Anyone that thinks that voting or violence is the answer is drinking the funny cool aid. The entire
political system is a cess pool and you might as well be firing a kids pop gun with a cork if you think
you can take on a swat team or the national guard.
The only affective way to fight against this system is to not participate in it and band together to
create community gardens and co-ops to grow your own food, create the products you need for your

The Once Nationaal Housewives Association tried to stop GMProducts coming into Britain. We even met

therefore farmland which gave the EC under EU directive2001/18/EC gave the final decision on GMCrops

Another point if GMproducts are so good why do farmers find they only grown once for produce then grow

Monsanto though is apparently holding out for a one world government wherein they will be able to dictate
food policy planet-wide. It’s truly disgusting the way they’ve been able to co-opt (meaning “buy”) every

im sure someone has put this up already, but i didnt see it. im not sure it has some much to do with it being
GMseeds as much as its cuz of what the seeds do.With Monsanto’s terminator technology, they will sell seeds
to farmers to plant crops. But these seeds have been genetically-engineered so that when the crops are
harvested, all new seeds from these crops are sterile (e.g., dead, unusable). This forces farmers to pay
Monsanto every year for new seeds if they want to grow their crops.

what you hicks dont realise is that GMO crops such as corn have not been proven to have any bad effects and are known to reduce cancer. i am 17 and am doing a 20 page biological report on this. you people come out with your harsh words becuase you dont like different. now im not gonna lie there are its downsides but becoming a cancer ridden zombie is not one of them. how about you do some extensive research on it before you come trolling websites. thank you and good night.

@ epicblue….so, you are suggesting that we WAIT for twenty or thirty years for any non-effects to show up before we weigh in on the supposed dangers? You even admit that there are downsides to it, yet you conveniently choose to sidestep the issue and not dwell on it? And then you have the gall to call us “hicks” and accuse us of trolling? Sounds to me like YOU have ulterior motives. Which Monsanto branch company paid you to ignore those “downsides”? Why don’t you wait until any “non-effects” to take place or not, in your own body before deciding that the rest of us don’t know what we’re talking about? You are what you eat, and the obvious dangers of having one company run the food supply globally demonstrates that maybe you should step back and take an objective look at it. Although, at 17 I don’t suppose objectivity is to be expected of you. Extensive research? All I need to know is that Monsanto is involved with the same authorities that are calling for de-population of the world. Now, I know this may be difficult for such a young, untested pipsqeak like yourself to comprehend, but the last time I checked, two plus two still make four. Connect the dots…or don’t. And, no most of us real humans don’t like different, especially when it means we don’t get to know what is in our food. But, hey if that what sails your boat, go for it. But you don’t have the right to decide for the rest of us. If and when you come down with some food-borne allergy or disease because of GMO, you are on your own, because it will serve you right. Maybe the army might help you out on that one LOL

From Indymedia portal

The secrets of Monsanto Miguel is very familiar with Monsanto. He worked for the multinational in Latin America for over 25 years. He knows life, death and miracles. The secrets of Monsanto. Today Miguel is one of the GMO repented. He wants to do something constructive. Caught by the crisis of conscience has decided to tell who is Monsanto and its plans for Europe (and Italy). Monsanto with its brands and the leader leading seed company in the world. Currently working in over 60 countries with over 14,000 employees, has revenues of nearly $ 6 billion investment in research and genomics and biotechnology for over half a billion dollars. After the repenting of TAV (hight rail speed) we ask to the new repented of GMOs: “Miguel…” (unreal name of course), “but why we should be worry about Monsanto? In most European countries the seeds and genetically modified foods are prohibited”. Miguel scratches his head and he replies: “It is true, however, Monsanto now has fielded a powerful lobby in Europe and has also – indeed, and thoroughly convinced – to be able to change things. As has already been done successfully in other areas of the world”. After running away like hell of Monsanto from Europe (because of hostility to GMO crops) has realized that now is the time is right to insist, and to return. Even in a big style I think. Jokingly we can say “go home Lasso” (Lasso is the name of a diabolical chemical produced by Monsanto). In the Mediterranean basin the corporation wants to do what Monsanto is doing in Latin America. In fact in South America the largest holdings, droves of agronomists and large consortia of manufacturers are intensively exploit the territories using only bio-technologies of the American colossus. The absolute monopoly. Once the crops with GMO products were made more or less clandestinely now practice them easily in sunlight. Among the many, is very active the AAPRESID, Argentina Association of Manufacturers in Direct Seeding founded in 1989. It is one of the most important NGO composed of a dense network of innovative producers from all over the Argentine territory , which receives support from science and experience Monsanto and experiments on the field all its new technologiesRight there in the pampas, after decades of brutal exploitation, now is studying the problem of environmental deterioration. The intensive work of coltivation have destroyed the biological and ecological integrity of the soil system. The wind and water erosion (as well as the unscrupulous use of poisons Monsanto) daily continues to cause pollution of water courses, and are phenomena which become increasingly pronounced and constitute a major cause of land degradation. If you read the “Dossier Monsanto Dekalb – Hybrids with high efficiency” (that Miguel, has put kindly available to us) talk specially about this, the technique of intensive exploitation of land, to promote specifically “the increase of the annual production per unit area” and “increases in multi- year average yieldThe Argentina of course is just a gym, then its model will be gradually exported overseas. In Italy there are already labs ready to be put to good use these experiments. A Pontevico in Italy there is for

labs ready to be put to good use these experiments. A Pontevico in Italy there is

example an important research center Monsanto (and an even in Olmeneta) whose task is to monitor and investigate the analytical work that is done by all other Monsanto laboratories around the world (Umberlandia in Brasile, Ankeny and St Louis in USA, Boissay Francia, Bethlehem Sud Africa). But a question comes naturally: “Miguel but you are quite sure that in Europe there are now favorable conditions for the comeback of Monsanto?”. The gaucho shakes his head and says yes without hesitation. Monsanto, tells us, some time has unleashed its 007, its secret agents in order to probe into the European market (with particular attention to the Italian market) and to approach all major corn growers professionals, offering interesting counterparts in exchange for use of its products modified in the laboratori (to start their would like sponsor a highly hybrid corn varieties adapted to the Mediterranean zone). In Europe and in Italy, for example, perhaps not everyone knows it, even if GMOs are officially banned and initiated a moratorium, some of these GMO are also used, studied, tested and widely used (The important thing is not to tell anyone where and how). the technologies and brand Monsanto products are already well known and present reality, for years in many important industries (see products as DEKALB, Asgrow, Roundup e Cargill). Let’s say, for the sake of truth, that in Theoretically the biotechnology applied to agriculture, may be harbingers of great benefits for humanity, especially for crop protection against viruses and parasites and the defeat of world hunger. In reality, however – or so says our well-informed interlocutor – is exactly the opposite. The substances manipulated by the eco-monster american caused only enormous environmental damage. Just think of a variety of corn, that a brilliant Monsanto scientist has mixed with a deadly pesticide (corn type MON810 treated with the Poncho 2 a potent pesticide manufactured by german Bayer).

Insecticides, fungicides, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers produced by Monsanto, instead of defending the environment they’re literally killing and poisoning. It ‘s the case of a hyper technological disinfesting based Zetacipermetrina, a pyrethrum generation with neurotoxic activity that causes immediate paralysis and death of larvae and insects (pity that also kills bees and insects that are essential to the balance of the ecosystem). According to Miguel this substance of synthesis is also responsible of many problems of all crops (soybean, corn, canola, cotton, potatoes) with consequences not so beautiful in the food chain. When nature rebels then are just greats pain for all. That the Saint Louis multinational did some of disgusting things, actually someone had already suspected. Monsanto has repeatedly been accused of serious negligence, fraud and threats to health and integrity of persons and property, health and ecological disasters as well as use of false evidence.

A rather striking case was that of the herbicide Monsanto Roundup (the world’s best selling and most widely

used in school gardens and green areas in cities) which unfortunately has had some slight drawback (cause

Glyphosate (the killer substance which is contained in the Monsanto’s products). But the killers products are many others, such as the deadly pesticide herbicide Lasso for which Monsanto has recently been condemned for poisoning and intoxication (want to see that in the end did less damage the Eternit asbestos and the chemical of ENI?). An interesting document internal Monsanto Italy – that thanks to Miguel we were able to view – expressed:

“First herbicide with European recording (20-11-2001). All manufacturers must demonstrate the safety of their products. We provide the best data on physico-chemical-toxicological. Most of the recordings will be:

canceled or classified (within 2 years). Roundup will surpass all tests (strong European lobby of support for Monsanto)…” (See attached pdf and document here reproduced).

A team of honest researchers recently have published a dossier that accusing the american agro-chemical

industry, and the European Commission to have knowledge at least from thirty years of the dangerousness of this product Monsanto but had deliberately kept secret to the public opinion. Monsanto is replicating the sad joke of the tobacco companies? Repeats itself the history of the Eternit asbestos? Everyone knew it was deadly, and today we count the dead and wounded. That at least this time Monsanto you put one hand on

your heart and has the good sense to write it in big letters on its products: “Monsanto is seriously detrimental

to health”.

An interesting research study sponsored by Monsanto says: “Men and Biotechnology, real risks or imaginary

risks?” (See attached pdf and document here reproduced). Say pro-GMO and pro-Monsanto: “…genetic engineering can lead to dangerous products. True. Multinationals do not work to solve environmental problems or world hunger but only pursuing their profits. True. The law allows the patenting of genes or

organisms is very contradictory. Its foundations are based on arbitrary assumptions which identify a right ethically very questionable. True … “. As says the Monsanto’s motto: “ … companies that look to the future do more that satisfy their customers. must astonish their customers”. This time it has really surprised Frankenstein. “Miguel…” (meanwhile, thanks for all the information) we ask “…these things of Monsanto are much interesting, you can tell us other interesting things?” “Sure you … if you do not mind …”. .-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Thank You to the people and government of Hungry for taking a stand. I took Planet Genetics and the best
way to keep crops strong is diversity with wild varieties and remixing of genes of the same species of plant.
That has always been done since we as human beings have learned to grow crops. However, I don’t agree
with Monsanto’s splicing of genes from other species of plants or animals. Round Up kills plants by clogging
the plants biochemical pathways, but many of Monsanto’s plants have an animal gene introduced so they
can survive the application of Round Up. Especially their Soybeans, I am not current on the newer stuff they
have done but worry that some of this crap that they put in some plants will mutate to other plants in the
environment, and cause a major environmental disaster. Not to mention the horrible side affect this shit can
or could cause to humans, plants and animals worldwide. Science is a wonderful thing that gives us great
knowledge, but it is how we use that knowledge that determines the outcome. Unfortunately many
governments and these large corporations do not care if the results are bad as long as they make their money
today, they don’t think about tomorrow or their effect on the people or the planet. I backed away from
Biological and Biochemical Science when I realized that if I created something to help Humanity and the the
planet, that even though my intention and invention would be to help and benefit the world, I know from
history the governments and corporations would exploit it for EVIL purposes to destroy the inhabitants of
earth and the planet itself. I knew that I could never live with myself or forgive myself if I gave them
Knowledge and they turned it into a biological weapon. I just think that we all must avoid using all products,
vehicles, power sources that contribute to the destruction of life as we know it on this planet, I know that will
be hard, especially for the us poor. Must return to growing our own food, and raising livestock though co-ops
with family, friends and neighbors if we can. If you can afford to put solar on your homes, Only through
action can we seek to change our future.

I do so agree with this as do most people in the United States right now. Excellent explanation here. I
wish you could explain more of this on more web sites so the misinformation out there could be dealt
with. There are seed companies that started saving seeds back in the 1960′s when it became evident
that Companies like Monsanto, Dow and there are many more companies that are Genetically
Altering seeds. Just look up “Heirloom” seeds. And now there is misinformation about pollution caused
by Solar Energy too. I had to really do some research to figure out where that was coming from. Mostly
from Oil, Gas and Electric.

Nature unites us all. “us” is The People. I cannot imagine someone wanting to possess every seed; the very
roots of food. The enemy is always the same: the elites who are successful psychopaths. Psychopaths are
slaves of the unconscious collusion of evil and ultimately friends of death. This appears, I know, like
emotional diatribe, but if you can think poetically and metaphorically, you will recognize that I am right in
this. So attack not The People, but direct your wrath at those who would destroy all Life.

with Monsanto seeds. Then I started reading the comments section written by the people of that country. The
level of hatred toward Americans is pathological. It’s paralleled only by the level of hatred for Jews. Why
wasn’t it a surprise that Hungary was an ally of Hitler’s Germany during WW II? It seems some Hungarians

DuPont and Monsanto have Amerika in common. And Amerikans have in common capitalism, which

of a lengthy history that Amerika has of exploiting the people of the planet. Researchers; look up the

Good for Hungary! Good for Peru! The United States won’t even label what is in the food bought over the
counter here. Most of us wouldn’t buy Genetically Altered food. I have read and watched this extensively and
Sneaking the seeds into the country has been planned by Monsanto and other large companies who are
making these genetically altered seeds. If you control the seeds, you control the farmers which controls the
food which then controls the people. Farmers using Monsanto/Dow seeds can’t even save their seeds yearly.
This is not a good situation. I do feel sorry for the farmers that get caught in this though.

Not the “Americans.” The United States Government is allowing it. Unfortunately the government
and what the people want is not the same thing anymore. Polls have showed that 9 out of 10 people
polled do not want GMO’s. Salmon is the next one. Nicknamed “Frankenfish.” So many of us
“Americans.” signed petitions and sent letters to our food regulatory agency, telling them we do not
want this on the market, that they put off allowing this fish on the market for a few more months.
However, the United States Government’s regulatory agency will probably end up allowing it as they
do everything else “Big Business” wants. Maybe other countries should also sign these petitions or
write letters to our United States Government. Unfortunately if it is allowed here it will manage to get
into the other countries just like the Corn Seed managed to find it’s way (whether designed to happen
or not) into Hungary and probably every other country in the world. The world has changed and we
now have a global market. That in itself will be a detriment to any country that tries to keep their
seeds free of GMO.

First of all, it is not the American people who are at fault here. They have been systematically stripped
of most of their natural rights for about a century now, so slowly (at first) that they never saw it
coming. Those who did see it coming were considered crackpots or subversives. Besides, Monsanto and
their ilk are multinationals and hardly an exclusively American problem. For the record, most of the
Americans I know don’t want it either but have no legal recourse. As for me, if I can’t produce it myself
I try to get it from a local farmer who uses organic/sustainable practices.

Comment directed to GAS. You are a research chemist. You know the drill when testing a new product for
human consumption. Question is with these genetically mutilated organisms that are being developed for
human consumption: WHAT ARE THE LONG TERMCONSEQUENCES? What are the subtleties that
transpire when one organism digests another organism for sustenance? I do not believe science has all these
answers; there are still many wonderful mysteries to life and life perpetuation. Do you feed your kids a diet
rich in corn syrup, commercial corn chips, commercial soy, mutated salmon, and commercial canola oil

Response to GAS: Yes, good job explaining this. Eating GMO corn regularly would fall right in there.
Round-up has been genetically added to the seed. Round-up is the main ingredient in “Agent-Orange.”
Same companies made Agent Orange that have Genetically Altered Corn, Cotton, Soy, Tomatoes, ….
Funny thing I read is that the tests other countries have made on these Genetically Modified

http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/basics.asp
Agent Orange active ingredients and characteristics
The two active ingredients in the Agent Orange herbicide combination were equal amounts of 2,4-
dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T), which contained
traces of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD).
The dioxin TCDD was an unwanted byproduct of herbicide production. Dioxins are pollutants that are
released into the environment by burning waste, diesel exhaust, chemical manufacturing, and other
processes. TCDD is the most toxic of the dioxins, and is classified as a human carcinogen by the
Environmental Protection Agency.
Agent Orange dries quickly after spraying and breaks down within hours to days when exposed to
sunlight (if not bound chemically to a biological surface such as soil, leaves and grass) and is no longer
harmful.
For more information on TCDD, read the fact sheet on chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (63 KB, PDF) from
the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease.
RoundUp herbicide by Monsanto contains the following ingredients:
http://www.naturescountrystore.com/roundup/page2.html
In a letter forwarded to Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides, Monsanto identified
RoundUp’s ingredients as:
Isopropylamine salt of glyphosate (active ingredient)
Water
The ethoxylated tallowamine surfactant
Related organic acids of glyphosate
Excess isopropylamine
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency in a letter dated April 30, 1999, in response to
Freedom of Information Request, the following inert ingredients are in RoundUp Super Concentrate
Weed & Grass Killer:
a
Polyoxyethylene alkylamine (CAS #61791-2)
Water (CAS #7732-18-5)
FD&C Blue No. 1 (CAS #3844-45-9)
David H. Monroe, an Industrial and Environmental Toxicologist, stated in an October 16, 1989 letter
to the National Campaign Against the Misuse of Pesticides (NCAMP) that most polyalkoxylated
surfactants such as the polyoxyethylene alkylamine in RoundUp are contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.
A
study done by Monroe on Vision, a glyphosate product by Monsanto, revealed that it contained 1,4-
dioxane at a level of 350 ppm.
(Monroe D, 1989. Letter to NCAMP.)
1,4-dioxane is carcinogenic, and is known to damage the liver, kidney, brain and lungs.\

Hi everyone. For some clarification: neither Hungary, nor other country from this part of the world (I’m
typing from Budapest) hates the Americans. Actually, they should hate it more than some people expressed
here, but not hate it in the emotional sense, but reject the bad things that are coming from there. This
countries Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, etc. are losing their identities day by day due to globalization.
Young people tend to forget completely the traditions and grow up on coke and Disney Channel. Oh, we are
not at all underdeveloped. We have all the super-high tech stuff and way of living that you have. What
politicians do is another aspect, but of course we already know that they are about the same all over the
planet. The WWII alliances are long gone and if we were to compare, we would have to ask if you hate
Germany as well…I know that we have import of corn, flour, garlic, onions, etc, all types of products that are
traditionally grown here. I see garlic from China all the time in the supermarket. Of course I get mad. This
country is not a melting pot and should not be. The only way to maintain the roots somehow is by rejecting
exaggerated melting.

Hi Alexandra and everybody: This is a frustrating subject. I hear you. You don’t have to loose your
identity, that is something you will always have. Like I am part Bohemian, Czech, German, English,
……etc. But it can be likened to loosing the identity of the corn seed. I hear that too. Since what I am
hearing on this blog is that most people from every country do not want to eat Genetically Modified
Organisms my question goes back to how do we keep these GMO’s from contaminating the world? Once
the food supply is contaminated it will be extremely hard to get something that is not contaminated.
U.S. “Organic” farmers are having an extremely hard time with trying to keep the contamination out
of their fields. Maybe we should all can and freeze enough corn that we can burn all the corn fields in
the world and start over with good seed.

All countries are facing a huge rise in cancer deaths. Companies like Monsanto and the GMO’s make

I’m going to be “that person” and say that, although I don’t know exactly how Monsanto modifies their crops
or to what end, simply genetically modifying crops for higher yield is actually a good thing. In fact, genetic
modifications occur naturally all the time. I know there is more to the story than this, but higher crop yield
=
less starving people, and we’re going to need it if we hope to feed the world’s population in 2050.
I don’t write this to start up more angry replies, but I believe there are two sides to every story, and I don’t
think the positive spin on GMOs is fairly represented in media today.

Aloha Sandy. You sound like a compassionate person and you are right, feeding the population is a
challenge. Unfortunately you are also right about not knowing much about GMO. Here is some info on
the science and health issues: http://www.responsibletechnology.org/ As far a crop yields; yes maybe
the first year or 2 does provide a better yield, but long term sustainability is proving GMO a failure to
the point where the companies are scrambling to develop stronger chemicals and GMO strains
resistant to them to combat the natural forces (bugs, weeds). Also there is the issue of corporate land
grabbing and so called free trade agreements putting small traditional farms out of business. Not to
mention they are now patenting life as they legally own their mutated species and currently any
neighboring crops pollinated by their private species. Bio diversity is suffering terrribly. To learn
more about this please go to http://www.centerforfoodsafety.org/. Clearly future science will work in
harmony with nature and will work for humanity, not profit. GMO’s are a dead experiment, but these
guys are not going down easy, we need compassionate people like you on our side!

Alice, You said you don’t really know what this is all about and you should check it out before you give
comments. What you said is true about natural selection and natural pollination. But makes you look
like one of those people that likes to post just to see your name there. You need to read up on “Round Up
Ready genetically modified seeds.” Studies indicate that they cause cancer and other health issues. Not
to mention that farmers will no longer be able to save their seeds if they use this product. But also read
about who makes the cures for Cancer. It is all about making money and controlling the food supply
and is Capitalism in the extreme. Ideas that we definitely need to modify and not believe everything
we see and hear on TV. Not even the news. You can’t expect to get accurate news when 3 or 4 people
own all the news stations and monitor what news is given i.e. the California issue that was voted on
and rejected making labeling of all ingredients mandatory in the State of California. Since then there
have been many states in the US that have passed making labeling mandatory.

Kalinaw Mindanao Movement, Inc. strongly opposed to GMO’s product. Until present, Scientist in the field of

Food and water for all – some part of the world were affected by global food shortage. People fighting for food
and water to sustain and survive. Escalating problem the world’s encountering today are because of
greediness and rapid effect of climate change/global warming.
Wealthy country suffer high rate of obesity and lifestyle related diseases due to up-size eating habit. While on
the other hand, countries labeled as 3rd world or poor counties facing huge problem of malnutrition and
starvation due to lack of food supplies. KMMI mean for “food for all” foods that are safe and not modified one.
Food is a basic need for human’s survival, quality foods means healthy body and mind- essential for holistic
development of a individual. If we have this, other important things followed.
KMMI advocates on good health for all. We (KMMI) say’s NO TO Genetically Modified Organism

Professional in the field of Biotechnology, research and agriculture continue formulate and seek alternative
remedies in order to track down the effect of insufficient production. One initiative is the usage of living
organism such as bacteria and fungus to develop genetically modified products. These products is to
improved for both plant and animal, which are very essential to human consumption and survival. One
article in the news print said that, GMis the answer of the global food crises that the world is facing today.
Pro-GMguaranteed that GMwould increase the farm production and provide opportunities for small scale
farmer to a greater income and big scale farmer to profit millions, inst it?,well.
GM’s advocates create their own yield equation: Less agri land area is equal to more food, with less labor , less
water and less pesticide. Their equation is contrary to the “10 reasons why we don’t need GMfoods” well
formulated by NO TO GMOS.ORG
Reason number 2. GMcrops do not increase yield potential – Despite the promises, GMhas not increased the
yield potential of any commercialized crops. In fact, studies show that the most widely grown GMcrop, GM
soya, has suffered reduced yields. A report that analyzed nearly two decades worth of peer reviewed research
on the yield of the primary GMfood/feed crops, soybeans and corn (maize), reveals that despite 20 years of
research and 13 years of commercialization, genetic engineering has failed to significantly increase US crop
yields. The author, f ormer US EPA and US FDA biotech specialist Dr Gurian-Sherman, concludes that when
it comes to yield, “Traditional breeding outperforms genetic engineering hands down.”“Let’s be clear. As of
this year [2008], there are no commercialized GMcrops that inherently increase yield. Similarly, there are
no GMcrops o n the market that were engineered to resist drought, reduce fertilizer pollution or save soil.
Not one.” – Dr Doug Gurian- Sherman
Reason number 3: GMcrops increase pesticide use – US government data shows that in the US, GMcrops
have produced an overall increase, not decrease, in pesticide use compared to conventional crops.“The
promise was that you could use less chemicals and produce a greater yield. But let me tell you none of this is
could use less chemicals and produce a greater yield. But let me tell you none of
true.” – Bill Christison, President of the US National Family Farm Coalition GMadvocates are rushing
true.” – Bill Christison, President of the US National Family Farm Coalition
GMadvocates are rushing to produce more agriculture product on quantity base not for quality. In
Southeast Asia , Philippines is being made as Human test tube for the GMO’s product. We urge the
Philippines Government to passed a policy discouraging the use of genetically- modified organisms in
boosting rice and animal production.
I believe, that Filipino people are intelligent and can produce high yield quality farm products without
depending and using GMproduct. Why GMO’s product ? if we can advocate organic and natural farming.
Truly organic and natural farming would yield high production, with the following equation; Small agri
land equal to much production with no chemical fertilizer , no chemical pesticide that leads to higher income
and healthy ecosystem.

toxins , super fungus’s created , super pests etc and so on simply when grown . So uhmm can you imagine

GMO crops that could be harmful to human health and the environment – even if a federal court or a regulatory agency rules that the planting of those crops is illegal. Under this new law, sneaked in at the last moment as a rider to the federal appropriations bill, not even the federal courts will be able to stop Monsanto from introducing a slew of new, potentially poisonous GMO crops into our food supply.

It’s just one more reason to pass a statewide GMO labeling law, one with real teeth.

This was a news blurp from True Organics. Sorry to be the bearer of this disturbing news. Please support the effort in Washington State. A small chink out of their armour is better than not striking any blows at all. We can blog all night, but he party won’t start till we get out there and dance. Take action!

Tks, and agreed, Monsanto and the Biotic don’t play fair. I wrote to the President, and Senators, looks like Money talks louder. So Agree, it will be a slug fest through the Country, State to State. Was sorry to see Cali loose. Hopefully Washington State will cut them at the knees. I just want my food labeled, so I can decide, I read labels to determine what is in my food and then decide what I’ll buy So how is knowing if it’s a GMO is any different, it needs to be labeled. The irony to me is Michelle Obamas’, Whitehouse lawn Garden and the push by New York cities’ mayor is up about the size of sugary drinks. I see GMO’s as more dangerous if you consider allergies and these companies inserting genes from different plants and even other species into another plant and then calling it ‘good’, and not wanting to inform the customer.

Aloha all. Here is a link to help this strong labeling law in Washington. Please put your money where your mouth is:.http://www.organicconsumersfund.org/donate/i522-april.cfm this is a very important first step battle. Monsanto, etc have built a house of cards. Let’s start pulling them out from underneath them. The majority of the people who know it’s in their food will not buy it, and that’s what they are afraid of. Why governments stand behind them in a ‘democracy’ is lunacy.

so why isnt it sinking in to all the “minds” that Every seed crop in the US and in Most other countries is ALL genetically modified in one way or another, and has been for Lots of years !

You are getting confused between normal traditional plant breeding techniques and genetic modification. From Wikipedia: a GMO is “any living organism that possesses a novel combination of genetic material obtained through the use of modern biotechnology”. The operative phrase here is

“modern biotechnology”, this is not what has been done to most crops. Most crops have been the subject of traditional plant breeding techniques. I found a good link to help make the point.

Fair play to Hungary I have great respect for that country having the courage to stamp out GMfood, if it makes Pigs sterile what is it doing to humans, i guess there is method in their madness……. depopulation? Shame on Europe for not doing likewise, we need to get back to nature .

Please don’t hate on America, as an American I do not enjoy drinking poison, I do not enjoy ridding my body and my children’s bodies with disease and poisons, but it is unavoidable…At least for now. I hope in America we can put a ban on this as well that would be AWESOME!

Genetically Modified crops can be a good thing… Especially with a global population exploding in number
and limited agricultural land to work with. It can create crops more resilient to drought, flooding,
temperatures, disease etc

Celebrate a victory not attack the people of another country? America has a lot of sheeple, as we do here in
the UK, but it’s the government of America that is entirely corrupt, and many people are waking up to it.
BTW the vote in California was quite clearly fixed!

I understand the anger that Europeans, Asians and Canadians have for Amerika. Dow Chemical, DuPont and
Monsanto have Amerika in common. And Amerikans have in common capitalism, which equals GREED!
And that’s what leads these corporations to do what they do to raise the value of their shares for all of you
Amerikans who are their stockholders. Genetically modified food is just the latest of a lengthy history that
Amerika has of exploiting the people of the planet. Researchers; look up the “United Fruit Company” on Wiki
to see what one of your Amerikan companies did to Central America 100 years ago.

Daniel: Few “Amerikans” have “shares” in anything. I don’t know where you got that information,
maybe from some movie or television show. Remember, those things are usually fiction. In fact, the
United States doesn’t really have a “middle class” any more. I read over the week-end that 1/3 of the
people in the US are living under the Poverty Level. And, the poverty level is much lower income wise
than it was 10 years ago. Our government will not let this be widely publicized. Those of us with
education even if we are self educated, try to keep companies like Monsanto and Dow from obtaining
this level of freedom to hurt. I didn’t know anything about the United Fruit Company and I will look it
up. Too many of us have been in “sleep mode” trusting that our Government would protect us from
this kind of thing. What a rude awakening it has been to realize that not only does our government not
protect us, the people, but we are also brain washed into believing it is alright for them to do this. And
yes, it is because of Greed. But it is not us, the common people that have the “shares” in stock. It is the
rich who aren’t even going to have to pay their fair share of taxes. It is also why the world needs
Internet Hackers like Anonymous and Wiki-Leaks. Thank you so much largejack! The genetically
altered grains and food that Monsanto and Dow are playing with will ultimately effect the world. So
instead of talking about the United States common people, you should be talking to your own
government and working to keep these things out of your country. Good Luck!

The elites want the world population back to 1/2 billion, not the 6-7 billion it is now–hence the Monsanto’s
and other entities get to do what they want: chem trails, etc. Do what you can to eat organically and keep
spreading the word.

I’m guessing from what I’ve read here that now one cares what that government just did to the farmers.
They aren’t getting compensated for their loss, its to late in the season to replant, and they may not have
known some of the seed was gm. If you want no harm done by something you don’t fully understand, you
need to make sure others aren’t being harmed in the process or you are just as bad as what you are fighting

Italy and all through up to England and the ONLY English American station you get is FOX NEWS –
watching that with out understanding it is a propaganda mouth piece for the Right wing Teabaggers it
would make any sane person thing the worst of the USA. I love the US and have many friends that are great
people, they like every other country out there has issues with government and the infiltration of “lobbyists”
making good people make wrong decisions. Corrupt government is NOT a USA thing only Europe was and is
full of crooked politicians and government so to you that are attacking the American people you obviously
have no experience with the people and have never taken a look at your own back yards. Monsanto is a evil
scum bag company but how about checking out where your government has money invested into I think
you will find the largest agriculture focused company has it fingers in to your government as well

I don’t blame the anger. Too many Americans are content to remain sheep to the slaughter. In our defense:
The media is corporately owned. It is difficult to get the truth out. Money bombards the airwaves with
propaganda and lies. I really do want to cry when I realize it is my country I speak of. I used to be so naive.
Monsanto is evil and genius and has infiltrated government. It’s all money and power and humanity be
damned. But there truly is no excuse. If we fill ourselves with excuses about our ignorant fellow citizens then
we doom ourselves to being poisoned. We all need to fight together.

shouldn’t need any help; it’s their country that has the ‘bad guys’, they have ~350 million people
(Hungary, 10 million), they have more money per capita than almost anybody else so, get the f**k to
work getting rid of Monsanto and stop whining like babies. If Hungary can do it, then so can you!

This is not about politics. Well not entirely! Monsanto does some good work in genetics to make corn from
where it normally can’t grow. This is a question on how dependant we become to this food source. All of the
seed from Monsanto is sterile which means that the farmer is now dependant on Monsanto for seed. I am
Canadian and remember when I was a kid having a cob of corn that would melt in your mouth and so sweet.
Genetics has taken that away. Maybe they can put it back. Stop sterilizing the seeds so the farmer is a little
self sufficient.

3-28-13 Obama betrays America yet again by signing the ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ into law Thursday,

Our Congress has also sold out to Monsanto, Deborah Stabenow accepted almost $28,000, while = I asked
Sen. Stabenow are you backing the Bill HR5973, that gives Monsanto, Immunity, Monsanto is one of the
biggest GMO creators, and Monsanto gave Sen. Mac Baucus $605,943 for his last election and he is on the
same committee with you and he want’s this bill passed? Sen. Stabenow is this legal? the U.S. Senate
Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry’s ~

So we have, Our President, Congress and Supreme Court Justice, all tied to Monsanto and more in
Washington. Even worse, Monsanto created Agent Orange/ Viet Nam, remember the disease’s associated
with exposure to this chemical. Then Round-up, now we have ’round-up’ resistant weeds.

this is just on a similar note- please consider contacting the FDA regarding this, thank you in advance for
any and all who do.
http://health.yahoo.net/experts/dayinhealth/artificial-sweeteners-milk
Artificial Sweeteners in Milk? By Lisa Collier Cool Feb 28, 2013 The dairy industry contends that using
artificial sweeteners like aspartame as optional ingredients in milk and other dairy foods without any special
labeling would“promote more healthy eating” and boost kid appeal. Currently, milk consumption is
dropping among both children and adults.
As Consumers we can contact the FDA: consumer@fda.gov , now I’m not sure how much it will help, but
then they can’t say we didn’t tell them.

III. You are a native American with the inbuild common sense & love for your land while white man simply
doesnt care. You may be tired, but it is tjme for you & your people to stop all this madness which includes
killing wolves, eagles, & destruction of everything you people cherish before it is too late! Once Monsanto
really takes hold you & your families will have no option but to eat GMO foods! Just like us in Australia we
can grow many foods in the garden, but seasonal changes make us vunerable to plant diseases when saving
their seed is will not be an option!

that all americans are fat and brain dead……only 60% of them are fat and only the

that vote in elections and think that politicians will solve their problems for them are brain dead.

To Toggle Switch: funny statement, but sadly not far from the truth. Our empire is slowly crumbling from too much consolidation of wealth, too much junk food, and too much TV. We once did great things for mankind, but in the last 2 generations, the only thing I am proud of is the internet and fiber optic technology. Our once great science is now giving us genetically mutilated food and our government ‘for the people’ is making us eat it by letting corporate power hide it undisclosed in most the food on our grocery shelves. We are even giving it to our babies: try read the ingredients in most baby formulas like Syn-lac: first ingredient- high fructose corn syrup, second- sugar (beet), fourth- soy. All GM grown. Then, they rant on Fox news about a health care system that costs 4 trillion a year.
