Cut the apron body piece from the check fabric by referring to the table-2 above. Fold it in half lengthwise and mark two points by referring to the measurements ,A and B in table-2 above. Now join the two points by a j shaped curve as shown in the above picture .Cut along the curve.
Fold the raw upper edge of the apron by -inch and press down. Fold by another inch and press again.
Fold the edge of the armhole by 3/8-inch and press. Fold by another 3/8-inch and press again.
Top stitch along the fold. Repeat the same on the other armhole.
Now we need to finish the edges on both the sides. Fold the edge by 3/8-inch and press. Repeat by another 3/8-inch.Sew down the fold. Do the same on the other side.
We need to finish the two smaller edges and one longer edge of the ruffle. For that fold the edge by 3/8 inch and press. Fold by another 3/8-inch and press again. Repeat the same on the other two sides.
Sew down the folds. Zigzag the longer raw edge to prevent fraying.
Now make a basting stitch ( for that you have to loosen the upper thread tension and turn your machine stitch to its longest) along the upper edge, leaving a 3/8inch seam.
Pull the loose thread gently, to gather the ruffle. Repeat the same to get two more ruffles of the same kind.
Take the gathered ruffle piece and keep its upper edge along the lower edge of the skirt, with the right sides together and pin as shown above. Sew the ruffle onto the apron body part with a seam allowance of -inch, removing the pins as you go.
Now turn over to the right side and topstitch along the seam line of the ruffle and apron to make it look neater.
Now mark a line -inch above the upper edge of the first ruffle with your marking pen.
Line up the upper raw edge of the ruffle along the line, with its right side facing the right side of the apron and pin.
10
Turn over to the right side and topstitch as the first ruffle. Repeat the same steps to attach the third ruffle. Now we are done with the ruffles. Lets move onto the straps. We have to do four straps, two for tying at the back of the neck and two for tying at the waist.
Take the strap pieces by referring to the measurements in the table above. Fold the two longer edges of the strap by 2/8-inch and press as shown above.
11
Sew down the strap, tucking in the shorter raw edges also
12
Now pin the straps on the upper edge of the apron as shown above.
Secure the strap onto the apron by stitching back and forth a few times.
13
Now take the other two straps, do it in the same way as we did the initial straps. Pin them onto the side edges of the apron as shown above.
Now secure the strap by stitching back and forth a few times.
14
Take two rectangular pieces,4 & inches wide and 2 & -inches long as shown above.
Sew along the four edges, leaving a one inch gap at the longer upper edge as shown above(this gap is to turn the bow inside out)
15
16
17
Pull the thread to gather the bow and secure by tying the thread in a knot with the other end.
Now we need to make the middle ring. Take a rectangular piece 2 & -inch long and 1 inch wide. Press down all its four edges. Fold in half lengthwise and press again.
18
Wrap it around the centre of the bow and secure by hand sewing at the back.
19
Now we need to attach the bow onto the apron. You can use fabric glue or sew by hand. Now we need to do the utility pocket.
Take a rectangular piece 7 & -inches long and 5 inches wide. Sew around the four edges with zigzag as shown above to prevent fraying.
20
Fold the two shorter edges and the raw longer edge by 3/8-inch and press.
21
Now pin the pocket onto the apron, 5 & -inches from the top and at the middle.
