Amanda Teegarden Announces for State GOP Chair April 3, 2013

Amanda Teegarden announced her candidacy for the State Chair of the Oklahoma Republican Party today. Teegardens experience in grassroots education and activism convinced her that the only way to solve our current crisis is to truly become the party of the peopleOklahoma has a strong history of populism, based upon self-reliance, neighborliness, community and civic involvement that accounts for the unique character so many people admire in our citizens, Teegarden said.

That means making our precincts active enterprises for education and activism. The precinct is the smallest political unit in the nation and the most important. American government is designed to flow from the individual up to the precinct and beyond. We need to actively encourage participation in these neighborhood areas so we can help citizens restore good government to our cities, counties, state and nation, she continued. Teegarden, of Tulsa, is the Executive Director of OK-SAFE, a non-profit educational and activism organization dedicated to restoring the principles of the American Free Enterprise system and Constitutional Government. She is a long-time grassroots activist, as well as being in national demand for her work on grassroots training and public policy. Amanda feels that now is not the time for politics as usual; we must stop recruiting candidates who dont understand the basic principles of our American system of government. We need principled men and women of integrity to rise to the challenge of running for office to restore our nation. I intend to find them and equip them to win, Teegarden said. She was called by many supporters to consider running. It was a tough decision for Teegarden because last month she was elected as a member of the 1st District Committee. Policies I am well known for my advocacy. I have studied the policies concerning most Oklahomans, including Obama Care, the chipping away of our 2nd Amendment rights, the adoption of the Common Core State Standard, and infringements on both individual liberty and property rights. These policies, and others like them, are a direct assault on our God-given rights to life, liberty, and property and are leading to the overgrowth of government and diminution of local control. The Republican Party has an opportunity before them by acknowledging our Founding Principles and standing by them, we can become the party of choice for the people of Oklahoma. It is our job to limit government and reduce its power. More than that, we must educate the public on the benefits of our policies. Limited Government and Candidate Recruitment My years of activism on behalf of limiting the power of government have prepared me to recruit and promote candidates that stand for decentralized, state and local based power. The ultimate authority is the individual the authority that all government operates with is granted by individuals to the state, and by the states to the federal government. When you elect me, you will have an advocate for the individual leading your Republican Party. Transparency / Open Door Policy The ultimate authority of the Republican Party is the precinct, and the authority of the precinct is the activist. As your State Chair, I will emphasize the Party is governed from the bottom up, not the top down. I will involve the various groups around the state who advocate issues in agreement with our platform, and make sure they have both a seat at the table and a voice in the debate. My years as Executive Director of OK-SAFE have shown me how effective activism is outside the Party it is time to bring that energy inside.
