First we reviewed and discussed the rubric for the child observation assignment. Next we brainstormed some of the focus child Tylers behaviors we would like to collect data on; then we narrowed it down to two behaviors. The first behavior we are going to focus on is how often Tyler follows teacher instructions, refuses teacher instruction verbally, and refuses teacher instructions physically. This behavior is important because it is adversely affecting Tylers functioning ability within the classroom on a daily basis. We discussed that if we can determine times of the day in which Tyler is less able to follow teacher instruction in the classroom, we will be able to offer more support to increase positive behaviors. The second is to determine which

areas and for how long Tyler plays in them during free play. We want to observe this behavior because it is a beginning step in completing the action step of determining areas in need of modification. The data collected on this behavior will also aid us in the third assignment of developing and implementing activity-based intervention by allowing us to see a pattern in Tylers play preferences throughout free p lay.
