id you notice? Today is called the Second Sunday of Easter, not the First Sunday after Easter. Our celebration of Easter is not over. These Sundays of Easter continue to present the mystery of Jesus Christs victory. The readings begin with the signs and wonders abounding in those earliest days. Sick people lay in the street, hoping that at least Peters shadow might fall on one or another of them. Then, in a powerful passage from the book of Revelation, the visionary falls down as though dead upon seeing the victorious Christ. But Christ extends a gentle touch: Do not be afraid . . . once I was dead, but now I am alive forever. In the Gospel, that same Christ appears and breathes on the disciples, and gently leads Thomas to believe. This Christmore powerful than any evil force, victorious over death itselftouches us and whispers, Do not be afraid.

St. Francis Borgia School could use some recycled paper. This paper is used to make copies of worksheets and handouts the teachers use in their classrooms. Recycled paper is also used in the office copy machine. This is one of the ways we save on using good paper. It helps keep costs down and saves trees as well. If you have paper that is clean on one side, has nothing inappropriate printed on the other side, and is flat (not bent or curled), and has not been stapled, we can use it! If you have letterhead that can no longer be used, we can use it! Please drop your paper donations at the school office on any regular school day between the hours of 8:15 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. Please come to the doors on Panama Avenue and ring the bell. Thank you for your continued support of our school!

From the Pastors Desk

Today we celebrate the Sunday of the Divine Mercy. As such, I entrust to the Divine Mercy our Parish and your families. In Mass Readings for this weekend we see two contrasts of faith following the Resurrection of Christ. In the Acts of the Apostles we hear the touching example of the faith of the early Christians, who brought out into the street their sick family members believing that the mere shadow of Peter could cure them. In todays Gospel we hear about the doubting Thomas who needed to touch Christs wounds in order to believe that Christ lives. During this Easter season, let us consider how our faith in the Resurrection actually functions. Is it more like the faith of early Christians from the reading, or like the faith of Thomas from the Gospel? Easter holidays celebrated with all of you were a moving witness to your deep faith in the Risen Christ. I wish for all of you the very best and continue to pray so that this faith should always increase and so that your faith may be a source of unending satisfaction and peace. I would like to thank all of you for celebrating Easter with us at St. Francis Borgia. I was delighted to hear from our faithful community many positive comments about how beautifully the church was decorated and the liturgy how it helped inspire them as they celebrated Easter. For us priests, this is the best reward for our responsibilities and work in the priesthood. On behalf of Fr. Joe, Fr. Marcin and myself, I would like to thank you for your Easter wishes as well as for your sincerity and kindness. I am thankful and grateful to all who helped decorate our church, prepare the liturgies and for the wonderful preparation of the music during Holy Week and Easter. Once again, I would like to gratefully thank you for your generous offerings for flowers and your gifts to St. Francis Borgia Church during Easter. May the Risen Lord bless and reward all the people who support our parish and our school. Fr. Rich
