Garter stitch Short rows - basic GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. KNITTING TIP: When turning mid piece, slip rst st. Tighten yarn and continue as before. This is done to avoid holes where you turn. --------------------------------------------------------BASKET: Cast on 35 sts on needles size 12 mm / US 17 with 2 strands Eskimo and work in garter st, AT THE SAME TIME work short rows as follows - read KNITTING TIP above - * work the rst 32 sts, turn and work back, work the rst 29 sts, turn and work back, work the rst 26 sts, turn and work back, work the rst 23 sts, turn and work back, work all sts, turn and work back *. Repeat from *-* until a total of 20 repetitions of short rows have been worked. Bind off. ASSEMBLY: Tighten tog the mid of the basket and fasten the yarn tightly. Sew tog the cast on and bind off edges. FELTING: Place the basket in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash warm at 40C/104F with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the basket to the right size while still wet and leave to dry at. At subsequent wash, wash the basket at regular wool program. Fold the edge double.
