2. Installing WSS
WSS is shipped as a virtual appliance (XVA) which you should run in a XenServer pool. To install WSS, follow these steps: 1. Download and unzip the <%PRODUCTNAME%> virtual appliance (XVA) 2. Verify the MD5 checksum to validate the integrity of the downloaded files. 3. In XenCenter, choose the menu item File > Import.

4. Click Browse. Select the XVA, and click Next. 5. Select the pool or server on which this VM will reside and click Next. 6. Select the storage repository on which this VM will reside and click Import. 7. Add a virtual network interface to the VM, select the network to which the pool's network interface is connected, and click Next. You may add more than one virtual network interface to the VM and connect them to the pool's external or internal networks. For more information, refer to Appendix A Adding Networks. 8. Click Finish to begin the import process. Check the Logs tab of the XenServer in XenCenter to know the progress of the Import VM process.

Configuring the Virtual Appliance to use Static IP address

If you wish to use DHCP instead of Static IP address for your Virtual Appliance, you may skip this section: 1. Go to the console of the VM in XenCenter. 2. Once the VM has finished booting up, press Enter till you see the Linux login prompt. 3. Log in as 'root' using the password: 123456. 4. Run the following commands to edit the network configuration file. cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ vi ifcfg-eth0 The comments in the file contain instructions to configure a static IP address. Ensure that you adjust the settings to your appropriate values. 5. Save the changes and exit. 6. Reboot the appliance either using the XenCenter action or with the command 'reboot'.

Initial configuration of the Virtual Appliance (XVA)

1. In your Web browser, enter the IP address of the virtual appliance. If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure that you disable Enhanced Security Configuration Settings to view the WSS Web page. 2. You may see a browser warning about the SSL certificate. Accept the certificate. To replace the built-in certificate with your own, refer to Appendix B Replacing the Security Certificate. Note: If you are using Internet Explorer 7.x, Use JRE should be enabled in Advanced Settings.

3. You should see the WSS setup screen.

4. Click on Start. You will be asked to configure your admin password. This password will also apply for the root user of the Citrix XenServer Web Self Service Virtual Appliance (XVA). You may later configure different passwords for admin users of WSS and the root user of the virtual appliance.

5. You choose your authentication method. You can manually add users to the builtin database or user XenServer Active Directory. If you are using XenServer Active Directory, refer to Configuring the Active Directory. Note: This is a one-time configuration setting that cannot be changed.

3. Configuring the Active Directory

If you wish to use Active Directory (AD) authentication, you must choose a XenServer pool and join it to the AD domain: 1. Open XenCenter and connect to the desired pool. 2. In the Users tab of a pool, click on Join Domain. 3. Ensure that the XenServer pool is connected to a valid Active Directory domain. 4. Supply the domain and the domain administrator login and password. Example: Domain: citrix.com, User Name: administrator, Password: ******. 5. The Users tab shows you a list of users with one entry 'Local root account'. 6. Click on Add..., to add users or groups from the domain. Example: To add AD user ashish, you can either add ashish directly using the login or you can add an AD group where ashish is a member e.g. DevTeam. Note: You do not have to give the user/group any role permissions in XenCenter. In this case, they will not be able to use XenCenter, but will still be able to use WSS. 7. Configure the WSS appliance to use AD authentication, and choose the above pool for authentication. 8. The user ashish will now be able to login to SSE. 9. In the WSS setup wizard, make sure you choose Active Directory (via XenServer) as the user authentication method. All the users that you added can now automatically login to WSS.
