Special Forces Regiment


Rejimen Gerak Khas (RGK)
Established: August 1st 1965

Regimental Badge

There are 2 types of special service regiments in the Special Forces Group, the Commando Regiment and the Special Operation Forces (SOF) Regiment. The difference in roles between SOF and Commando is that the SOF consist of highly specialize squadrons to locate, report, harass and disrupt the enemy through long range infiltration as well as operating in close collaboration with guerilla or partisan forces meanwhile the Commando would launch offensive operations independently via sea, land and air in enemy controlled territory and also conduct information gathering missions. Each squadron usually comprise of a HQ element, 3 combat troops and a support troop. A squadron usually commanded by a Major, troop commanded by a Captain while a section is commanded by a Sergeant.

Units in SOF Regiment are classified. Known units includes but not limited to Special Reconnaissance Squadron (Sierra and Tango) - Skuadron Tinjau Khas Anti-Terrorist Squadron (Uniform) - Skuadron Melawan Keganasan Combat Rescue Team (CRT) Anti-Terrorist Unit - Unit Lawan Keganasan (ULK)

Commando Regiment
Units in Commando Regiments are classified. Known units includes but not limited to Pathfinder Squadron - Skuadron Pandura Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Small Patrol Team - Trup Rondaan Kumpulan Kecil (RKK)
