FAULT DIAGNOSTIC CHART FOR DW920 AND DW820*

(* DW820 has no L.C.D. display. The illuminated L.E.D.s will indicate the diagnostics and fault finding codes.) The fault diagnostics consists of 4 stages of diagnostics as follows: 1. Display & LED Test, Current and Previous Fault History and Controller Software Version. 2. Hardware Outputs (HO). 3. Permanent Cycle and Cycle Count 4. Fast Test Cycle and Dry Test Cycle.

Power on at wall socket. No LEDs or displays showing. Press and hold the ECO SAVE, and then press POWER for 4 seconds. To move between levels, press WASH. To move between modes within a level, press START/PAUSE. To select an option, press ECO. To exit the diagnostic mode, press POWER. On first entering diagnostics, all L.E.D.s will be illuminated and the L.C.D. will display 88. Press START/PAUSE. The current fault will be displayed (refer to table on page 5). Press START/PAUSE. The previous fault will be displayed. Press START/PAUSE. The controller software version will be displayed. Press WASH to enter the second level of diagnostics. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the door switch test. 8 will be displayed in the L.C.D. Activating the door switch will show 0 in the L.C.D. and the ECO L.E.D. will illuminate. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the flood switch test. 8 will be displayed in the L.C.D. Activating the flood switch will show F in the L.C.D. and the HEAVY L.E.D. will illuminate. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the inlet valve test. C will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the NORMAL L.E.D. will illuminate. Press ECO to activate and deactivate the inlet valve. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the element test. E will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the FAST L.E.D. will illuminate. Press ECO to activate and deactivate the element. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the wash pump test. P1 will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the HEAVY and ECO L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to activate and deactivate the wash pump. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the dispenser test. dl will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the NORMAL and ECO L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to activate and deactivate the dispenser. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the drain pump test. P2 will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the FAST and ECO L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to activate and deactivate the drain pump. Press START/PAUSE. This enters the temperature sensor test. Refer to the chart on page 3 for details. Press WASH to enter the third level of diagnostics. This enters the permanent cycle. PC will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the HEAVY and FAST L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to display the last used cycle. Select the cycle required for the permanent cycle. Press START/PAUSE to start the permanent cycle. The dishwasher will complete the cycle, then start it over again. 5

This will continue until POWER is pressed to exit diagnostics. Pressing START/PAUSE at any time will pause the cycle, and the number of cycles the controller has completed in its life will be displayed. Refer to cycle count chart on page 4. Press WASH to enter the fourth level of diagnostics. This enters the fast test cycle. FC will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the RINSE and ECO L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to activatethe fast test cycle. Press POWER to stop the fast test wash. During the cycle, pressing ECO will display the temperature (DW920 only). Press START/PAUSE. This enters the dry test cycle. dC will be displayed in the L.C.D. and the NORMAL and HEAVY L.E.D.s will illuminate. Press ECO to start the test dry. Press POWER to stop the test dry cycle and exit diagnostics. Press WASH to return to the first level of diagnostics.

Temperature Display

During the operation of a normal cycle (when not in diagnostics), the temperature can be displayed on the DW920. To turn on temperature display: Activate KEYLOCK. Press POWER for 4 seconds. Deactivate KEYLOCK. The temperature read by the temperature sensor is now displayed on the L.C.D. while normal operations are continued. To turn off temperature display: Activate KEYLOCK. Press POWER for 4 seconds. Activate KEYLOCK. Press POWER for 4 seconds. In diagnostics, the temperature is displayed in a binary code, and also on the display (DW920 only). Using the binary codes, the temperature is found by adding together the value of the L.E.D.s that are illuminated. Note: The temperature display only increases in 4 degree steps, i.e. 23oC would read as 20oC, and the display would not increase until 24oC was reached. 6

Temperature Sensor L.E.D. Chart

L.E.D. Code: L.E.D Eco Rinse Fast Normal Heavy Example:

Value 4oC 8oC 16oC 32oC 64oC

If the Eco and Fast L.E.D.s were illuminated, the temperature would be 20oC. If the Eco and Normal L.E.D.s were illuminated, the temperature would be 36oC.

Cycle Count Chart

This is a hexadecimal system used to calculate the number of cycles the electronic controller has completed. To retrieve the cycle count data, enter the third level of diagnostics as described on page 2 and 3. The DW820 only displays the cycle counts in segments of 256 cycles by using the L.E.D.s, while the DW920 displays exact cycle counts by using both the L.E.D.s and the L.C.D. as shown on the following chart.

For example, on a DW820, if the ECO and RINSE L.E.D.s are lit, 256 + 512 = 768. The cycle count is between 768 and 1024 cycles.

FAULT CODES FOR DW920/DW820 DISHWASHER

Code DW920 Only U1 LED Display DW920/ DW820 Rinse Only Description Fill Fault: The machine fills for 1 minute, and if ventilation is not seen in this time, it washes for 1 minute. If ventilation is still not seen, it drains and repeats. If at the end of this period ventilation is still not seen, the machine will flash U1 and beep until the POWER button is pressed. Flood Fault: The flood switch has been activated by water lifting the float in the base pan and the machine will flash F1 and beep until the power is switched off at the wall. Possible Causes Too much foam in the machine. Tap for inlet valve is not turned on, or low water pressure. The drain system is not working or not fast enough. There could be a blockage or a fault in the drain pump. The wash pump is not turning on (check in diagnostics). The wash pump is faulty.

F1

Description

Possible Causes The incoming water is too hot. The machine has become too hot. The electronic controller is faulty. Temperature sensor or circuit is faulty.

F4

Over Temperature Fault: The temperature sensor reads a temperature greater than 90C three times at 10 second intervals and the machine will flash F3 and beep until the power is switched off at the wall. Eco Save No Temperature Rise Fault: The dishwasher allows 50 minutes after the timer has paused at the end of the allocated heating time. If it has still not reached the sub-cycle temperature, it will flash F4 and beep until the power is switched off at the wall.

Element is not connected. Overheat cutout has tripped. Element is faulty. Electronic controller is faulty. Temperature sensor is not hard up against the inner door. Temperature sensor circuit has shorted.
