STUDENT SENATE MINUTES April 02, 2013 The Senate President called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm and

announced that the meeting may be filmed or audio taped and may be available to the public. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. ROLL CALL: Roll was called and quorum was established with 77 senators present. AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA: - A motion was made to approve Senate Bill 2013-1026: Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Student Government Funded Academic Organizations Budget by unanimous consent. The motion passed. - A motion was made to approve Senate Bill 2013-1027: Fiscal Year 2013-2014 Student Government Funded Student Organizations Budget by unanimous consent. The motion passed. - A motion was made to approve Senate Bill 2013-1023: 200 and 500 Code. The motion passed. - A motion was made to table Senate Bill 2013-1025: Secure Site Online Voting Act. The motion passed. AMENDMENTS TO THE PREVIOUS MINUTES: There were no amendments to the previous minutes for March 26. PUBLIC DEBATE: - Senator Filipelli: Announced that the Collegiate Verterans Success Center opened April, 1. Encouraged Senators to check it out. - Senator Chan-Pong: Announced a charity concert in the Rion Ballroom for AASU on Friday. Come out and bring canned food items. - Senator Grasso: IRHA Directorship Applications came out on Wednesday, April 3. Announced the Farmers Market on Thursday on the North Lawn from 11-2. - Tia Smart: Announced the SG Banquet on April 18 and encouraged all Senators to come. - Senator Olivieri: Voiced his opinion that tabling Senate Bill 2013-1025 is a mistake. He thinks the bill is ready to be implemented. Urged that the bill be put on next weeks agenda.

Senator Dwyer: Voiced his support for online voting. Thinks it will be easier for students and encouraged the Ad-Hoc committee to look at this issue. Daria: Voiced her opinion on the Bill for online voting and encouraged the Senate to approve this so it can be implemented. Thinks that it is important to make voting online for students who live far away and to make it easier. Former Senator Krazner: Good to be back in Senate. Sent out the correct version of the bill 2013-1024.

OFFICE OF THE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT None PRESIDENTS REPORT: - Met with ISIS representatives this week, trying to work with them to improve the website - Shout out to Senator Filipelli for the Collegiate Veterans Bill. - Final report from Nightlife Navigatros Chairman Christian Arrango. o Presented a Powerpoint on all of the accomplishments of the Agency this past year. COMMITTEE REPORTS: REPLACEMENT & AGENDA: - Open District A, District D, and Graduate seats - Open Allocations and Budget Committee seats - Meeting this Sunday at 5:30 to interview candidates for open District A seats as well as Allocations and Budget seats. - Everyone must fill out the summer replacement form by the last meeting of the semester, even if you will be here for summer. BUDGET & APPROPRIATIONS: - Thanked everyone for moving Budget Bills to 2nd readings - Will be meeting Sunday at 3pm in the SG Conference Room. - Announced that Student Organizations can rent TV space from rec sports - Thanked Chairman Arrango for everything he did. ALLOCATIONS: - Meeting on Sunday at 2pm in room 283 of the Reitz. - Will begin tabling at the colonnade this week from 3-4pm. Tabling will count as Constituency for Senate. - Meeting with library people about the battery pack initiative. JUDICIARY: - Met on Saturday to discuss 2 bills - Announced his resignation as Chairman of Judiciary. RULES & ETHICS: - Thanked Chairman Weimer for all of his work as chairman

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION: - Meeting on Sunday at 4pm in SG Conference Room - Will begin showing a slideshow of announcements before Senate next week - Thanked Chairman Weimer for his service as Judiciary Chairman ELECTION CODE REFORM AD-HOC: - Purpose of committee is to go through 700s and make sure everything is revised if needed. - Will look at the online voting Bill in committee - Meeting Sunday at 5pm in SAI workspace SECOND READING: None FIRST READINGS: - Reading of Senate Bill 2013-1024: Resolution Supporting United States House Resolution 850, The Nuclear Iran Prevention Act of 2013. o 5 minute presentation of the Bill o A motion was made to approve the Bill by unanimous consent. The motion was properly seconded and passed. ANNOUNCEMENTS: - Carlton from Fresh Prince will be coming to UF to speak - BSU welcomes innovation academy students - FLC event for the end of the year- 50 Shades of Orange and Blue on April 18 from 4-7. Will have ice-cream, games, prizes, raffle, dunk tank and much more. - Staff Applications for FBK open and available on FBK website.
