Battle of Marathon
On August 11, 490 B.C. the Persians were coming to Greece to take it over. Athens wasnt going to fight alone so they sent their runner/messenger (Pheidippides) to Sparta to ask for help. When he ran 150 miles from Athens to Sparta they said no, that they couldnt help. They said they will come help on the next full moon which will be in s few weeks! They had religious ceremonies going on so they sent Pan. He would play his pan flute and the enemy would get confused. Pheidippides and Pan ran back to Athens and Pan played is flute and a fog came and put the Persians off course and they ended up in Marathon. The Greeks met up with them and fought for 3 hours. The Greeks won! Pheidippides then ran all the way to Agora, Athens. He yelled NIKE!!! and he dropped dead on the spot. The Greeks put their weak soldiers in front and put their strong ones to the side. They did this so when the Persians are pushing the weak Greeks back the strong Greeks come in from the sides and get them from another angle.

The Lost 7 Questions Interview

Yesterday King Leonidas was interviewed on the victory of Greece. Question: Did you think you were going to win from the beginning? Answer: I always thought we were going to win! I will always have faith in my soldiers! Question: How did you feel when you knew Greece had won? Answer: I felt victory and great honor for leading my army with pride! Question: Did you feel that Pheidippides death was anyones fault for making him run, fight, and then run again? Answer: I think it is no ones fault for his death. He is the messenger/ runner and he ran for the Spartans help, ran back, fought, and then ran to Agora and just died. The gods know when it is someones time and sometimes it just happens. Question: How would you feel if you had lost yesterday? Answer: I would have felt helpless. Also I would have felt that I let down my country. Question: Were your soldiers tired after making it to Marathon after 25 miles of walking? Answer: They were a little worn out, but they were ready to fight when we got to Marathon. Question: Did you think it was only going to take 3 hours to beat the Persians? Answer: I thought it would take at least a day to bet them, but I guess I had a little doubt in my soldiers. Question: How long do you think you and your soldiers could have gone if it wasn't just 3 hours? Answer: I think me and my men could have gone however as long the Persians could fight, and maybe a lot longer.
