Copyright and Licensing

If it is going to be copyrighted it must have a copyright notice. If you ask yourself if it is copyrighted it probably is. It is a violation to sell and give away without a copyright. If the work is of no value then it normally does not become a legal matter. Nothing is considered Public Domain unless it specifically has Public Domain on the piece of work. If you let a piece of work become public then you lose all rights to that piece of work. The Fair use exemption allows commentary and news reporting about copyrighted work. They are not allowed to take credit for the work though. Copyrighted work is almost never lost. You cannot copyright a name. You cannot have work that is based or derived from other copyrighted work. The exceptions are criticism and parody. If you get caught using copyrighted work you normally get sued not committed for a crime. Being sued is depended on who the jury and judge believes more. Copyrighting can be turned into a crime depending on the severity. People have been charged for felonies on certain cases. The owner decides if they want free ads or not. They will contact you if they want it. A copy is not copyrighted. All emails are copyrighted. A copyright is a lock on what can be published. Copyright is only protection of your hard work.

Part 3: Creative Commons License

Visit the website http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/. This is the actual text of the Creative Commons license.

Copyright and Licensing

1. In your own words, what are people allowed to do and not allowed to do under the creative commons license? You are allowed to share other work if you do not use it for commercializing, do not alter it in any way, and attribute the work appropriately to the person whose work it is.

Part 4: In Your Own Words

In your own words: 1. How has the copyright law benefited society and the economy? What would you change about the copyright law, given the rapid growth of the internet? This gave people the right to be known of their own work and perhaps profit off it. I dont think I would change any of it.
