Maxithlon 2.

Introduction
The point of this file is to make you think about Maxithlon 2.0. There are several idea’s collected
here. My suggestion is that you read all of it before making comments. For me these are all crucial
changes. Let me summarize them:

1. Smaller leagues

2. Longer seasons

3. Splitting of the individual championships

4. Introduction of the continental championships

I shall explain my idea’s further. Please discuss about this in the thread on the international forum.

1 Smaller leagues
My first idea is to make smaller leagues of 12 instead of 16 clubs. It is something that is in the
idea-topics since long time. Leagues of 12 teams are ideal. Every week you play against ALL other
teams. The points are divided this way: 15 - 13 - 11 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1.
A consequence of this idea is that you need a lot more divisions for an equal amount of clubs.
To handle this, I propose this:

Division Level Number of leagues Going up Going down

1 1 4
2 4 1 4
3 8 2 4
4 16 2 4
5 32 2 4
...

In the first 7 levels you’ve got then (1+4+8+16+32+64+128)*12=3036 clubs, now you have
(1+2+4+8+16+32+64)*16=2032. With this, promoting to the Golden League gets harder.
I hear you think: ”Eeuh, 12 teams competing each week against everyone... How do we get
this in such a short season?” Well the answer is very simple: we make the seasons longer.

1
2 Longer seasons
Ok here’s my proposal for a 16-week season:

Week Day Event

1 W RM + NM + CM + WM
1 S NL 1
2 W RCC
2 S NL 2
3 W RM + NM + CM + WM
3 S NL 3
4 W RIC
4 S NL 4
5 W CCC + RM + NM
5 S NL 5
6 W RM + NM + CM + WM
6 S NL 6
7 W RM + NM + CM + WM
7 S NL 7 R Regional I Individual C Championship
8 W CIC + RM + NM N National C Club M Meeting
8 S NL 8 C Continental L League
9 W RM W World
9 S NCC
10 W RM + NM + CM + WM
10 S NL 9
11 W RM + NM + CM + WM
11 S NL 10
12 W RM
12 S NIC
13 W RM + NM + CM + WM
13 S NL 11
14 W RM + NM + CM
14 S WCC
15 W RM + NM + CM + WM
15 S NL 12
16 W RM + NM +CM
16 S WIC
Remarks:
1. The lines indicate the training days.
2. I suggest World Meeting instead of International Meeting (Because a Continental Meeting
is also international (more then 1 country))
I’ll come to CCC, CIC, WCC, WIC in idea 4. Now why are the national championships on
Sunday and the continental on Wednesdays? Because more teams participate with the national
championships, so its more fun. There are no Olympics, But instead you get each year World
Championships.
Because the season is longer, I suggest following changes:
• Indexation of the tickets for NL competitions (x1,6)

2
• One extra Junior and Master-meeting

• I suggest that the waiting for organizing a Official meeting should be adapted:

– Regional 3 seasons
– National 4 seasons
– Continental 5 seasons
– World 6 seasons

• Higher winnings of each season: see the section Money

3 Splitting of the individual championships

There exist already World Championships for Juniors and Masters. So why don’t we split EVERY
individual championship. So there would be Regional and National and Continental championships
for Juniors and Masters. In that way Masters and Juniors become also important in the game.
Because there are 3 different meetings, 3 different arenas could be chosen. In this way, more clubs
can have fun.

4 Introduction of the continental championships

This is something that comes back frequently on the idea boards. Here is my idea how to organize
it.
For the Continental Individual Championships of season X, 2 people of each country are allowed:
The National Champion of season X-1 and the best athlete of season X-1. The best athlete is the
first athlete on the seasonal ranking. If this is the same athlete, the second one of the National
Individual Championship is taken. The first half of the athletes of the Continental I.C. is qualified
for the World I.C. For the money, check the next section.
For the Continental Club Championships of season X, 2 teams of each country are allowed:
The National Club Champion of season X-1 and the National League Winner season X-1. If this
is the same club, the second one of the National Club Championship is taken. The first half of
the clubs of the Continental C.C. is qualified for the World C.C. For the money, check the next
section.
In the World Championships, there are thus as many clubs/athletes as there are countries in
the world (Currently 40). I think this is ok, because, you have World Championships every year.
Remember that the individual championships are separated.
For the organization, ofcourse everyone with a Continental stadion can apply.

12 256.000 170.667 128.000 102.400 85.333 73.143 64.000

You can see that it is now exponential instead of linear. In the old system, a winner of a 3th
division got more money then the 9th of the First Division. Now its more paying to be in higher
leagues. In the lowest leagues, the system is more or less the same as in the old system.

12 320.000 248.000 190.400 147.200 118.400 104.000 89.600

In this system the first one gets the same money as the 6th of the following division. The second
one of the 9th and the third of the 12th. (Except in the second league where only the champion
promotes). Even more challenging for teams to get higher.
In the second system you get more money as in the first system. That isn’t always good.
Please discuss the possible consequences in the thread.
