Centuries ago, in a battle against the Giants, Jorvak saved Odin's life. In return for saving his life Odin blessed Jorvak, intending to give him immense strength and fighting prowess, but instead, the blessing awoke within Jorvak an ancient ability of the dragons. This ability was thought long lost, but Jorvak had been born with dragon's blood in his veins, thus he gained the ability to use the voice of a dragon, which is how the dragon's used their breath powers. Jorvak also was made Thor's protege, learning everything he could from him during his journeys.

In addition to possessing the Strength, Speed, and Reflexes of an Asgardian, Jorvak also possesses the ability to use elemental shouts, with which he can use to send waves of force into his enemies, blast them with fire, and then freeze their blood solid. He also possesses a Two-Handed obsidian axe, which he uses to an exceptional degree of proficiency.
