Provides a communications path with the satellite for a particular ocean region. Channel Unit Rack Control. The LES software that controls the CUs. Delivery Call Record. The call record generated when a call is delivered from the LES. Data Network IDentification. The address of an LES file that stores data reports and messages. This was formerly known as the CNID, which is used in some report headers for historical reasons. Data Report. The report file received from a mobile. Enhanced Group Call. Facility for broadcasting calls to one or more mobiles. Enhanced Network Identification. A 16 bit number used in EGC addressing. A CCITT defined number for telex transmission. Each code represents a particular country, geographical region or ocean region. Commonly referred to as country code. Front End Processor. A DEC VAX processor for driving the system interfaces Incoming Call Record. The call record generated when a call is received by the LES. Interstation Signalling Link. The communications link betweenan LES and NCS. Logical Channel Number. The number of the communications channel allocated to transferring a call between an LES and a mobile. Land Earth Station. The equipment providing the gateway between mobiles and terrestrial networks. Formerly known as the CES. Logical Unit Number. The number assigned to a logical channel. This number is preceded by the logical channel type, for example TDM_02. Mobile Earth Station. A terminal accessing the Inmarsat-C network with the Inmarsat-C protocol. Previously known as SES. Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION
This document describes the reports produced by the INMARSAT-C LES. All reports are generated and listed using the appropriate menu options from SOC Viewer, which is described in the operator guide, reference [2]. This document will describe reports in the same order as they appear in the SOC Viewer menus. The mechanisms for producing these reports and the purpose of each report are described in the operator guide, reference [2]. Reports are produced from either of two systems: the on-line system. This runs on the Master BAP. Reports are produced by processing the on-line database or log files (held on the on-line system). The on-line database holds LES configuration data, details of mobile and registered user population and messages through the LES. Log files relate to calls in and out of the LES and events generated by the LES. Additionally, the report printer produces statistics outputs at intervals defined by the operator. These provide information on the different types of system activity during that interval. Statistics outputs are similar in content to corresponding on-line reports. the off-line system. This may be from either BAP. Reports are produced by processing the off-line database. The off-line database is derived from the log files produced in the on-line system. HNS recommends producing reports from the standby BAP, so as not to affect system performance. This document is organised under the following chapter headings: Chapter 1 - this introduction Chapter 2 - describes the reports produced from the on-line database Chapter 3 - describes the reports produced from on-line log files Chapter 4 - describes the reports produced from off-line system Each report is described with its name, a brief description of its purpose, the report format and any selection criteria (used by the operator in generating the report) defined. Report formats are defined using the COBOL PICture convention. X and A fields are left justified with leading spaces. 9 fields are right justified with leading zeros. 9 indicates a numeric character X indicates an alphanumeric character A indicates a character (never numeric) brackets indicate a number of instances of 9, X or A more than one 9, X or A indicates that number of characters e.g. 9(4) and 9999 both indicate four numeric characters Date fields are based on the format MMM DD YYYY hh:mm:ss.cc, where :MMM DD Month (JAN-DEC), Day (1-31),

Chapter 3 Online Log File Reports

Online log file reports are generated as a result of searching the incoming call records (ICRs) and delivery call records (DCRs). The records searched depend on the selection criteria entered by the operator prior to the report being generated. The operator chooses one of the selection critera below to select a range of call records to be searched. One and only one criterion must be chosen: 1. Start date/time and (optionally) end date/time. (If no end date/time is specified the current date/time is used.) 2. Last N hours (1-36). 3. Last N records (1-999). (This option is available only for call record reports.) Further selection criteria will depend on the nature of the report being produced, and is covered in the individual report descriptions. The title of the report, time generated and selection criteria used, will be included at the head of each online log file report generated. Reports are available for the following: 1. Call Records - Summary/Common Message Report 2. Call Records - Summary Statistics Report 3. Call records - LES To Mobile Message Report 4. Call records - Mobile To LES Message Report 5. Chapter 4 Offline Database Reports

These reports are generated from the offline database which was previously generated from the log files produced by the on-line system. A description of how the offline database and offline reports are generated are described in Chapter 14 of the Operators Guide, Reference [2]. That chapter also explains the purpose of each report and the meaning of each field. The reports are generated either by exercising the Default Reports option or the appropriate selection from the Statistics Reports, Call Record Reports, Event Log Report and Distress Summary Report options from SOC Viewer - Offline Processing - Options. To obtain a directory of the offline reports, view, print or delete a specific report, select the appropriate option from SOC Viewer - Offline Processing - Options - Housekeeping - Report Utilities. For each report generated: the operator is invited to enter the start and end times. If these are not entered the times default to Jan 1 1901 12:00AM and Jan 1 2099 12:00PM respectively. The data/time format is: DD-MMM-YYYY hh:mm. the operator may provide the report file name or else accept the system default. The default file name for each report is described in this document as part of the section title. the title appears at the top of the report. the time generated appears after the title in the report. the selection criteria used to generate the report appears after the time generated in the report. The Report Generation Menu has the following reports available 1. Default Reports 2. Statistics Report - Channel Unit Chassis Statistics Report 3.
