Bright color toys are fine-grained hardwoods. Finish is spray can Krylon white primer and color glosses. Krylon brush-on Color Creations also works well. With both types of paint, apply 2 coats of primer sanding each coat with 220 sandpaper when dry. Apply 3 coats of color sanding with 400 sandpaper when dry. Apply final coat of Krylon Triple Thick Clear. All Krylon paints and finishes are nontoxic when dry.

Natural wood toys finish is either Cynthias Non-Toxic Paste Wax Wipe-On Finish or spray can Krylon Triple Thick Clear gloss. For Triple Thick Clear gloss apply 4 very light coats of Clear sanding each coat with 400 grit sandpaper when bone dry. Apply fifth and final coat of Krylon Triple Thick Clear and do not sand the final coat. All Krylon paints and finishes are non-toxic when dry.

The parts shown in this assembly demonstration are made from Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). MDF is available in stores like Lowes and Home Depot in 2 x 4 sheets of 1/2 and 3/4 thickness. The parts shown are finished with the make it yourself Cynthias Paste Wax Finish applied to the toy with a paper towel after the glue has dried and after complete assembly. View the video on how to make your own non-toxic paste wax in our How-To section on www.toymakerpress.com. See pages 2 and 4 for alternate finishing methods.
1. Glue and clamp the two Part 3s to Part 2 using the precision line orthographic on page 6 as a guide and with all axle holes in alignment. Wipe off excess glue after clamping and let the glue dry thoroughly before proceeding. 2. Glue two wheels Part 7 to ends of two axles Part 8. Part 8 axle protrudes on outside of Part 7 axle hole by approximately 1/16. Insert ends of the two axles through the Part 2/3/3 Assembly. Slip two Part 7s onto the ends of the two Part 8s that are protruding from Parts 2/3. Adjust the wheels on Part 8 to allow the axle/ wheels assembly to rotate freely in Parts 2 and 3.
