The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and De La Salle University College of Law (DLSU-COL), in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) and the Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVR COB), will be conducting an information session for the business, legal and academic sectors on Free Trade Areas (FTAs) that the Philippines entered into and are already in force, in aid of increasing nationwide awareness on the benefits of these FTAs to the businesses. Here are the general details of the event: What: Doing Business in Free Trade Areas (DBFTA) When: Thursday, February 7, 2013 Registration: 7:00 am Program Proper: 8:00am to 4:00pm Where: Registration: DLSU Centennial Hall Grounds, De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila Program Proper: Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila Who (expected number of participants): 1000 participants The program will be discussing an overview of the FTAs, the current status of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) FTAs, the economic implications of these FTAs to businesses and the legal remedies in international trade. The event is intended for, but not limited to, business and legal practitioners, business and law students, and anyone who shares interest in the subject. The purpose of the upcoming DBFTA is twofold: 1.) To impart knowledge in both the Philippine business and the legal communities as regards the current FTAs and how they work when trading with partner countries; and 2.) To provide financial support for the following: a. The One La Salle Scholarship Fund a campaign which aims to grant full scholarships to commendable students of various La Salle schools all over the country; and b. The Lasallian Commission on Bar Operations (LCBO) a young organization that targets to start a tradition of excellence in the filed of legal education by establishing measures that ensure 100% passing rate in Bar Examinations from 2014 onwards.
