Sunshine standards
LA 5.1.6.1/ LA 5.1.6.5: The student will use multiple strategies to develop grade appropriate vocabulary. The students will use new vocabulary that is introduced and taught directly. The students relate new vocabulary to familiar words.

Ms. Coreys English Fifth Grade February 18th-19th

Day 2- After looking over for accuracy the night before, class will begin with the collection of all the students slides. Students will take notes using paper and pen. 1. Using laptops, students will log onto their Quizlet.com accounts There, students will create a New Set titled Vocab 12 Students will type up the word, part of speech, and definition After set is complete, students will use website to play learning games.

Learning Objectives
The core learners of this standard and my classroom are fifth grade students. By learning new vocabulary, students will be able to become more fluent in speech, better writers, and more. Through the use of the Internet on student computers, the Smartboard, and Ipad applications, students will be prepared for testing. Students will have learned the definition of both their own and classmates definition due to presentations and group work. Students will be using the first three levels of Blooms Taxonomy: remembering, understanding, and applying. Using laptops, the Internet, and Ipad applications, 5th Grade English Students will define, create sentences, and find synonyms to prepare for the vocabulary test on February 25th with 98% accuracy.

Materials
List of 20 5th grade vocabulary words 6 Ipads w/ Educreation Application Smartboard Laptops w/ access to Quizlet.com

Student Activities
Day 1- Students will be grouped into six groups of three students, which are different from their table groups. Each group will receive three words and complete the following. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Using Ipads use Safari to define the words and find two or three familiar synonyms Open up Educreations Interactive Whiteboard application and create a page with the word on it Create a new slide with the definition, part of speech, synonym, and a formal sentence. Repeat steps two and three for the final two words. After definitions are finished go back to the slides and draw or add a picture that demonstrates that word. When complete, email the slides to teachers email. Day 2 continued in next column.

Evaluation
Students will be graded on the accuracy of the definitions, the strength of the sentences correlating with the words, and their participation and group effort. Students will be put to the test the next week to see how well they did on the vocabulary test. This lesson is not about testing their skill, but making sure they know and understand the material in a fun, technological manner.
