Life of Jesus The Great Commission

Matthew 28:11-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (16-20) The disciples did as Jesus had told them (26:32, 28:7,10), then saw Him and worshiped Even upon seeing Jesus, some of them struggled with doubt (Luke 24:41, John 20:25) Jesus speaks for the last time before the ascension in what is called the great commission All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me the resurrection confirmed that Jesus is Lord; He is supreme and totally authoritative (Luke 24:44, Philippians 2:9-11) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations those who receive Him (John 1:12) are given the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11a), and in the power of the Holy Spirit who lives in you (Romans 8:11b) Jesus commands us to take the initiative and go to all nations with the specific purpose of sharing His gospel and making disciples Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit when an individual responds to Christ in repentance and faith, we are to baptize them (Acts 2:38) Even though the word trinity does not appear in the scriptures, Jesus speaks of the three in one God the Father expresses Himself through Jesus, who is one with Him and has always existed with Him (John 1:1), and through the Holy Spirit (counselor, teacher John 14:26) Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you this instruction involves not only initial proclamation, but a life of teaching by both word and example (Col 1:28, Thes 2:8) The great commission of Jesus involves the power of His authority, our obedient action to go to all nations, our proclamation of the gospel which is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16), believers baptism, and the relational involvement of personal discipleship And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age the final instruction Jesus gives to the disciples and to us is based on His authority, His power, and His presence When God gives us a task, He does not follow with a pep talk, but assures us of His presence God does tells us to strong and courageous (Deuteronomy 31:6, Joshua 1:9), but this courage is based not on our strength but His strength and presence in the life of the believer Just as God told Joshua to be strong and courageous. . . surely I will be with you (Joshua 1:9), so He tells Isaiah and Jeremiah the same (Isaiah 41:10, 43:5, Jeremiah 30:11, 46:28) Paul teaches that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:31) Jesus concludes the Great Commission with an awesome promise: the assurance of His powerful and eternal presence surely I am with you always to the very end of the age
