Warm Up Activity: 3v3 small sided games

Four ball= set to the left hand side hitter Freeze Frame Questions: - What should teams do to protect their hitter in case they get blocked? Answer: Cover the hitter - Who should be protecting the space around the hitter? (Four Ball play) passer 5, setter and middle hitter should be covering space. Passer 6 covers back court. Practice Task 1 successful trial and then rotate. - Server will slaps the ball into play and calls free. Hitters should be moving off the net and setter should be moving towards the net into position. - Passer receives the ball and digs it to the setter. - Setter will call which play they will be using (Red ball, Two ball, Four ball). - Hitter hits the ball and the attacking team should be covering. Focus should also be on covering space around the hitters in case the hitter is blocked.

While explaining the practice task, the students will be standing around the white board. Use the white board to demonstrate plays and positions. 6v6 (same teams) Depending size of class on the day, if there is 12 students in the class that day. We will separate into teams of 6 and one teacher per group as the server.

Concluding questions: What other sports can use the technique of supporting your teammates? Why should we always support the hitter? Overall lesson questions: Ask the class what you enjoyed about todays lesson? Would you like more class time spent on one of the activities from today?

Bring the class in around the whiteboard to conclude the lesson and ask questions
