PRONOUNS (1) Personal Pronouns [As subject: I, You, He, She, It, We, You, They] [As object:

ct: Me, You, Him, Her, It, Us, You, Them] 1. Words which take the place of nouns are called personal pronouns.

2. Personal pronouns are used to replace the names of people, places, animals or things. They can be used as subjects or objects.

3. Personal pronouns (as subject) are used at the beginning of sentence. They are used as the subject

of the verb. You are happy. I am ten years old. They are fishing by the river. We are going to the library. 4. Personal pronouns (as object) are not used at the beginning of sentence. They are usually used after a verb or preposition.

She is helping me in the garden. Please pass the message to him. Mrs Siva told her the good news.

Possessive Adjectives / [My, Your, His, Her, Its, Our, Your, Their] 1. Adjectives which show possession are called possessive adjectives.

2. Possessive adjectives are used to show belonging or ownership.


3. They are always placed before nouns.

This is my pencil. Mei Leng is cleaning her room. The dog is wagging its tail. We are riding our bicycles.

Possessive Pronouns [Mine, Yours, His, Her, Ours, Yours, Their] 1. Possessive nouns are used to show belonging. 2. They are used with people, countries and animals. 3. Possessive pronouns can be used to replace possessive adjectives.
