The koda Auto company views the development and manufacture of environmentally friendly products as one of its foremost priorities, and in all phases of the products life cycle. In order to fulfil this criterion we have taken the following steps in the manufacture of our koda Superb vehicles: We have placed the main emphasis on the use of recycled materials. The parts used in koda Superb cars are marked according to appropriate standards. This allows their fast identification during disassembly and any subsequent separation of various groups of parts. Construction design of these parts is optimised with regard to their easy and fast disassembly when the vehicle is being dismantled at the end of its life cycle. We manufacture koda vehicles using progressive technologies in the most modern production facilities available, which correspond to the highest and strictest criteria. For anti-corrosion protection of the painted areas of the vehicle we always and without exception use leadless cataphoresis (KTL) and water-based paints. Cutting the consumption of fuel and emissions is achieved within the framework of the concern strategy with both petrol and diesel engines. In the area of combustion we achieve lower consumption of fuel by minimising the frictional loss in wheel traction, optimising vehicle aerodynamics, reducing energetic consumption and decreasing the weight of parts and at the same time continuing to meet all of the required parameters. All the engines we offer meet the current emission guidelines. In the construction of the vehicle we pay special attention to limiting the possibility of the escape of service fluids, in the framework of manufacturing the vehicle, its operation and service. All products of the koda Auto company meet the requirements of laws and guidelines for the protection of the environment, both earth and water. As a consequence of using the most modern analytical methods and follow-up measures, we are also able to decrease noise levels and improve sound quality. The result of all of these activities is that the koda Superb car fulfils not only all technical requirements in safety and quality, but also in the area of protection of the environment. Large rear lights with integrated fog lights give a final touch to the wellbalanced design of the cars tail. The C-shaped glow of the lights are a novelty, something that enables all koda cars to be easily recognised.

High-pressure washers integrated into the headlamps can be extended automatically. They retract to be completely flush with the front of the Superb, much to the delight of aesthetes and aerodynamicists alike.

Boarding Spots (LEDs on the underside of the wing mirrors) illuminate the ground when getting into the car in darkness, making puddles, dirt and obstacles clearly visible. This feature can also be activated by remote control.

Boarding Spots (lights on the underside of the front doors) illuminate the ground within a radius of one metre when leaving the vehicle. The Coming Home system is another useful feature of the Superb. The headlamps remain on for up to 30 seconds after passengers leave the car.

The Bi-Xenon headlamps do not only wield great illuminating power but also look good. Thanks to gas-filled tubes, coupled with electromagnetic baffles, the benefits of xenon light can also be put to use on full beam. The road ahead appears to be bathed in broad daylight, no matter how dark. Fog lamps and halogen headlamps are integrated.

The radiator grille is one of the key design elements and also a typical feature of koda models. With a reshaped grille, the Superb has acquired more eagerness and dynamism, whilst still retaining its elegance which is highlighted by the chrome package (front lower grille chrome frame, mouldings for the side-window upper and lower lines and line trims for the side and bumper protective mouldings).

Direction indicators are integrated into the outside mirrors. This fine novelty is a highly functional detail, too, and adds to the attractiveness of the Superb.

Located inside the windscreen, a sensor detects the onset of rainfall and automatically activates the wipers, setting them to the necessary speed.

Variable service intervals (WIV) may apply to new koda models. Every Superb is equipped with three-point seat belts and three headrests in the rear for optimal protection against neck injuries.

The front and side passenger airbags can be deactivated if a child seat has been installed facing backwards.

In the event that your car is struck from the side, two side airbags fitted into the car seats inflate automatically.

Two large-capacity airbags are activated for drivers and front seat passengers protection in the event of a frontal collision.

Thanks to a multi-link front axle and rear crank axle, the koda Superb is neat and easy to handle, which adds to the safety and comfort of the drive. The braking system includes several chassis electronic control systems. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EDS (Electronic Differential Lock) come as standard on the 2.0/85 kW version, with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) as an option. The same applies to the 1.8 T/110 kW engine. The koda Superb 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW, 1.9 TDI PD/96 kW and 2.0 TDI PD DPF/103 kW versions feature ABS, EDS, ASR (traction control system) and MSR (engine drag moment control), with optional ESP. The V6 2.8 30V/140 kW, 2.8 30V/142 kW and the V6 2.5 TDI/120 kW versions come standard with ESP, ASR, ABS, EDS and MSR. All versions are equipped as standard with the Dual Rate System that helps to reduce the stopping distance in critical moments. In the versions with ESP, the Dual Rate System is coupled with the standard installed Electronic Brake Assistant. In addition, passengers are protected by crumple zones built into the car body, a specially designed engine mount, pedal and steering column unit, triple side-impact struts built into the doors, and in the event of a collision electronically controlled fuel cut-off and automatic door unlocking. Once triggered, the head airbags inflate to form a curtain that spans from the A to the C pillar, providing optimal protection for all passengers.

The Lounge Step removable carpets in the interior colour are designed with built-in footrests for rear seat passengers to ensure a healthy posture on long journeys and to make sitting in the Superb even more comfortable.

The Footboard can be used if the front passenger seat is unoccupied. The middle section of the backrest can be folded down to allow the rear seat passenger to stretch out his/her legs.

The cup holder integrated into the rear armrest can accommodate two drinks.

Tucked into the left rear door is an extremely practical detail known as the WetCase. It is a compartment holding a Superb umbrella, ingeniously designed so that any water left on the umbrella is channelled to the outside of the car.

This is where the Superbs extraordinary spaciousness really comes into its own. There is more than enough legroom, even for the longest legs. A separate air vent allows you to create the right atmosphere, and you can even enjoy heated seats. If, on the other hand, you have a particularly large amount of luggage to carry, the 1/3 to 2/3-split folding rear-seat backrests can expand the boot volume up to as much as 945 litres.

The Uni-Ski-Bag is a removable bag, useful for long, bulky items such as skis or snowboards.

Thanks to the memory function of the electrically adjustable driver seat, you can save three seat and side-view mirror configurations and recall them again the next time you drive. That way, different drivers can immediately recall their favourite position.

A glasses case is located on the drivers side in the roof, for easy access in any situation.

When it gets dark the CatVision function subtly illuminates the dashboard of the Superb with a warm light that creates a luxurious and reassuringly safe environment. All the outlines and surfaces in the cabin are clearly visible without interfering with the drivers vision.

The manually operable air-conditioning system also includes a pollen filter.

An air ventilation system in the back ensures that conditions in the rear remain just as pleasant as in the front.

The electrically heated driver, passenger and rear seats add to your ultimate comfort.

An electrically heated windscreen will quickly clear frost or steam.

If the headlamps are switched on, the inside door handles are gently illuminated. No more groping about in the dark to find the way out.

The centre console between the front seats contains a climatecontrolled storage compartment, the Travel Box, which provides space for small drinks or snacks. You will soon come to appreciate this on longer journeys as your drinks are kept pleasantly cool.

The tinted SunSet rear windows protect passengers from inquisitive stares and direct sunlight.

The specially tinted glass of the electric sunroof protects you from the glare of the sun while giving a fine view of the sky. Like the windows, the sunroof can be locked from the outside by the central locking system. An adjustable spoiler prevents any noise caused by airflow.

The useful rear-window roller blind screens passengers from sunlight and ensures that the car interior remains pleasantly cool.

The electric sunroof with solar cells performs several functions. When the engine is not running, solar cells supply the air-conditioning ventilator with electricity. This ensures an airy and cool interior even if parked in the sun. In the winter, on the other hand, circulation of air inside prevents the windows from icing up.

A light-sensitive rear-view mirror reduces the strain on your eyes and prevents you from tiring too quickly. A sensor monitors whether the headlamps of following vehicles might be blinding the driver, for example if the car behind has forgotten to dip from full beam. In this event the rearview mirror darkens automatically. The climate-controlled glove compartment presents a wonderfully practical and convenient way of preventing things from overheating in summer. It enables you to surprise your host with a bottle of chilled wine even after a long drive. A fully functional refrigerator is located behind the upholstered armrest of the back seat, waiting to be loaded with refreshments for the journey.

The CargoFlex variable loading system is quickly at hand every time you need it.

With the Net Programme comprising of three nets, you can easily adapt the luggage compartment to your current transport requirements.

To prevent your shopping bags from falling over, you can hang them on the foldable hooks located in the luggage compartment ceiling.

When folded, the CargoFlex variable loading system is stashed away behind the backrests of the rear seats. You can pull it towards you easily whenever needed and load it without straining your back. Once you move off, even small items are retained in place thanks to the CargoFlex system.

If you want to accommodate more serious luggage, the CargoFlex is easy to push into the rear half of the boot, even when loaded. The CargoFlex has a load capacity of 25 kg.

To ensure that the Superb remains in a pristine condition, it can be fitted with a Parking Distance Control System. Unobtrusive ultrasonic sensors, built into the rear bumper, measure the distance between your car and the nearest obstacle. An acoustic signal warns you if the car gets too close.

The front parking sensors are a novelty with the Superb equipment. They may be activated or deactivated with a button on the front of the centre console. We offer this option exclusively in combination with the reverse parking sensors.

Easy-to-reach buttons on the left-hand side of the multifunction leather steering wheel allow you to operate the cruise control with your left hand while driving. The feature is delivered only in combination with the large Maxi-DOT display, cruise control, Symphony or Rhapsody koda audio systems, or a navigation system.

Combined with the GSM II kit, you may also employ the buttons on the multifunction leather steering wheel for hands-free control of your mobile phone. This feature is not only convenient, but it also makes a useful contribution to your safety. The multifunction steering wheel has the same availability as the previous one.*

The buttons on the right-hand side of the multifunction leather steering wheel allow you to control audio functions, such as volume and station selection. The option incorporating the mobile phone control also uses these buttons to scroll through your phones folders and menus.

You can choose from eight engines, four of which are petrol engines: the six-cylinder V6 2.8 30V/142 kW (193 hp), V6 2.8 30V/140 kW (190 hp), the 20-valve turbo four-cylinder 1.8 T/110 kW (150 hp) and the 2.0/85 kW (115 hp). The diesel engines include: the state-of-the-art dynamic six-cylinder V6 2.5 TDI/120 kW (163 hp) as well as three highly powerful TDIs utilising the pump-nozzle injection system: the 1.9 TDI PD/77 kW (105 hp), 1.9 TDI PD/96 kW (130 hp) and 2.0 TDI PD DPF/103 kW (140 hp). In these unit injection systems, the fuel pump is inserted directly into the cylinder head and injects the fuel there under high pressure. This provides optimum filling of the combustion chamber, improved engine output (more torque at lower revs) and reduced fuel consumption. All of the Superb engines are fitted with the EOBD (European On Board Diagnostics) system.

Depending on the engine type, the koda Superb can be equipped with either a 5 or 6-speed manual transmission. For V6 engines, as well as 1.8 T/110 kW and 1.9 TDI PD/96 kW, the Tiptronic automatic transmission is an option. In automatic mode, the modern electronics of this intelligent 5-stage transmission adapt the shifting system to your driving style and to the route profile. Tiptronic can also be switched to manual mode, whenever needed, without the use of a clutch.

Good legibility of data is not simply a matter of graphics but also requires good backlighting of the combination dashboard. We have used white light for the Superb, both elegant and practical. The large Maxi-DOT display enables swift and clear access to the onboard computer data. The Maxi-DOT display will then show you outside temperature, average speed or driving range, for example. It will also warn you of a potential fault. Able to display simple directional pictograms, it is also ideal for accurate and intelligent navigation.

Speaking of the mobile phone kit, you may choose between two GSM variants, and the kit also includes the basic electrical wiring required to plug in your mobile phone. In addition, GSM II includes a hands-free set and the basic phone holder on the centre console.*

A DVD player fitted into the ceiling is a novelty in our premium technology range, and will be particularly welcomed by the rear seat passengers. The appliance is equipped with a 7" LCD, remote control and wireless headphones. It supports the following formats: DVD-Video, CD-ROM and MP3.

The SatCompass navigation system offers directional assistance with the use of visual arrows and gives further useful information such as remaining distance and time till arrival. The monochromatic display and a friendly voice instruct you exactly when to make a turn. The system includes a large Maxi-DOT display that presents the information directly in the drivers field of view. Thanks to the dynamic functionality it guides you around traffic jams. When not in use, the CD player can be used to listen to audio CDs. The SatCompass can be extended to include a CD changer in the luggage compartment.

The Symphony car audio system with CD and MP3 player and the RDS/EON TA tuner is compatible with the Superb multifunction steering wheel. Station info and RDS messages appear in the drivers field of vision on the Maxi-DOT display.

The Rhapsody with CD player, in addition to the Symphony set features (except for MP3), has the Room Equalisation function that acoustically adapts to the interior for optimal sound. To enjoy even better sound, the Rhapsody system may be complemented with the digital Sound System with a 240 W output.

Thanks to its dynamic functionality, the Superbs DX navigation system with Sound System constantly tracks the position of your vehicle, monitors traffic announcements and responds to traffic jams. Routes are indicated within the drivers field of vision on the Maxi-DOT display. The basic version of the navigation system comes fitted with standard loudspeakers. An additional Sound System, including an amplifier with a 280 W output and eight loudspeakers, is also available. By pressing the driver function button, the sound can be perfectly attuned to the drivers position.

The DX navigation system is a high-resolution device, and, when supported with a TV tuner, can also be used for TV reception and Teletext scrolling. For safety reasons, TV viewing is allowed only when at a standstill. If the car is travelling faster than 6 km/h the picture disappears from the screen. The sound, however, continues to be transmitted.

Every koda Superb features a radio installation with a roof aerial, plus eight 4 x 20 W output loudspeakers.

Two CD boxes, each of them holding six CDs, are a handy extra for the cars equipped with CD changer. The boxes are inserted into the luggage compartment, where they may be easily removed if you prefer not to leave them in a parked car.

A CD changer for six discs can be installed in the luggage compartment as part of the Symphony and Rhapsody car radios or a navigation system.
