Our Civic Selves 1. What kinds of service learning or volunteer experience have you done in the past? What are you doing presently? Describe any projects or organizations you have worked with. -In the past, I volunteered at Pine Ridge Education Center doing clerical work in the front office. I have also volunteered with a non-profit organization, Operation R.E.A.D. Inc., which is a book club for kids in the community who love to read. 2. What personal strengths, talents, and gifts would you bring to a group project? -I would bring my all to a group project. With my outgoing personality and my talkative ways I can help make our project fun and a good experience.

3. What issues are you passionate about? - I am passionate about helping others do better or whatever the case may be especially kids and young adults.

4. What are your barriers to civic engagement? Do you have any hindrances that group members should know about? (Live on campus with no car, work 40 hours a week, childcare needs, etc.) -I live on campus with no car. 5. What life experience, life lesson, and/or set of values have impacted you most? -When I volunteered at Pine Ridge Education Center, I overheard stories of parents not being able to afford certain things for their children. This made me realize that you have to be thankful for everything you have because there are some people in the world who wish they were in your shoes. 6. Who is someone you admire that has changed your life or the world for the better? Explain your answer. -I admire my mom because throughout all the negative energy she had around her, she still managed to keep pushing to get her Doctorate Degree. Based on your strengths, talents, and experiences, what are some organizations that you would feel passionate about partnering with during the semester? You must research at least

three organizations and include contact information. Visit http://www.fgcu.edu/connect for a list of approved service learning agencies.
