The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) hosts its 14 thannual Caribbean Conference on Sustainable Tourism Development in Trinidad and Tobago from 15th to 18th April, 2013. This conference seeks to bring together the regions leading tourism officials and key stakeholders, as well as international experts, in an environment which facilitates the sharing of experiences, discussions on key issues affecting tourism, and generation of new ideas. The conference aims to accomplish a range of sensitisation and capacity-building on areas of improving visitor experience, good practice models in tourism sustainability and developing sustainable tourism products. The latter is particularly important to the agriculture sector which has been contributing to the range of cultural and eco-tourism products through agrotourism. The knowledge to be gained can be used to design and implement the best possible policies and programmes lending to a sustainable and competitive future for the regional tourism industry. Factors in Modelling Water Erosion Processes and the Assessment of the Rainfall Erosivity Factor Faculty of Science & Technology Conference Room Natural Science Building UWI, Trinidad and Tobago

The Department of Physics hosts a Seminar on Factors in Modeling Water Erosion Processes and the Assessment of the Rainfall Erosivity Factor . Assessments of this nature are important to forecasting the likely impacts of soil eroding factors associated with climate change and changing use patterns. The findings are important to the agriculture sector in identifying and adopting measures to preserve the soil resource which is essential to sustainable agriculture and rural development in the Caribbean. The seminar takes place at the Faculty of Science & Technology Conference Room, Ground Floor Natural Sciences Building. Featured speakers include renowned Prof. Donald Gabriels, UNESCO Chair on Eremology, Department of Soil Management, Ghent University, Belgium and Prof. Deyanira Lobo, Facultad de Agronomia, Universidad Central de Venezuela.
