Chapter 1 The important Nervous System

Brain
The nervous system controls everything you do, like moving, eating, talking, hearing, everything you can think of that involves something with your body. Without it we would die. It tells our body what to do.

It is made up of your brain, nerves, and spinal cord. The brain controls everything you do. The
Spinal cord

spinal cord, carries messages throughout your body to and from the brain. The nerves, receive and send messages to and from the brain.

Chapter 2 Parts of the Nervous System

There are a lot of parts in your nervous system. Located in the brain are cerebrum, cerebellum, pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and brainstem. Located throughout your body are spinal cord, and nerves. The Cerebrum is the thinking part of your brain. It also controls your voluntary muscles. Your memory lives in your cerebrum. The cerebellum controls balance, movement, and coordination. It is located below the cerebrum.

The brain stem connects your brain to the spinal cord. It is in charge of all the functions you need to survive(breathing, digesting food, circulating blood, ext.) The pituitary gland releases hormones that make you grow and turn you into men or women.

The hypothalamus controls the temperature in your body. It gets your body temperature where it needs to be. The spinal cord carries messages to and from the brain. It also carries messages to and from the nerve cells. Your nerves are all over your body. They send messages to the brain and receive messages from the brain.

Fun Fact If you stretched all of your nerves in your body they would reach around a running track 200 times.

Chapter 3 The Nervous System process

Lets say you want to move your hand. The brain sends a message to nerves in your hands. When the nerves receive the message, they make your hand move. If you touch something cold the nerves send a message to the brain telling the brain to make you shiver, so the brain makes you shiver.
Nerves Sends messages to the brain and receive messages from the brain. Brain Send messages to the nerves telling them what to do and receive messages from the nerves.

Chapter 4 Deadly diseases

Parkinsons disease, cerebral palsy, GuillainBarre syndrome are diseases that can affect your nervous system.

Parkinsons disease is disorder of central nervous system. With it you lose the ability to totally control body movements. Some nerve cells are damaged and do not work well. Cerebral palsy is disorder of the brain. You lose the ability to coordinate your body. Some types are spastic, athetoid, and ataxic.
Cells Control your body through different systems that give you what you need to survive. Spastic It is a type of cerebral palsy. With it you cant relax your muscles or your muscles are stiff. Athetoid T ype of cerebral palsy. It affects the ability to control muscles of the body. Ataxic T ype of cerebral palsy. With it you have problems with coordination and balance.

Chapter 5 A healthy nervous system

Keeping the nervous system healthy is not always easy. T o prevent diseases from happening you should: Eat healthy food, get a lot of exercise, wear a helmet when you ride a bike or play other sports that require head protection. Dont drink alcohol, take drugs or smoke tobacco. Use your brain by doing challenging activities.
Fun Fact Messages travel in nerves at 186 miles per hour (218 km per hour).

Conclusion
I hope that you know a little more about the nervous system. While learning about this system, I learned that there are different systems that work very hard each day to help you survive and live a happy life. This makes me realize that there are much more organs than just bones and muscles in your body. This experience taught me all about my body and all the process it does each day of my life. Now I know that my brain controls all my systems and that to protect it I should wear a helmet and do other things to protect the nervous system. This research taught me about the importance of my nervous system.
