Objective: Students will be able to read Clouds, which is Written by Kira Freedwith with accuracy, fluency and comprehension. Materials: o Clouds Book Procedure: o Book intro o Today we are going to read a short story titled Clouds! This book is a descriptive nonfiction story about clouds. Youll learn about the different shapes clouds can form into. Lets turn to page 9, the clouds start to change on this page. Be aware of the changes the clouds are making and why they are changing. Also, look at the change in color of the clouds. When have you seen clouds look this color? As you read pay close attention to what each cloud is formed into and think about the different shapes of clouds you have seen before. Ill be around to listen to you read!

o While the students are reading independently the teacher is conferencing with each student. o The teacher will come around and read with each student. o She will also take a short running record and ask comprehension questions and the end of each conference o Possible teaching point: o Students will be asked for facts about the guided reading story and how the reading connects to what they are working on in their independent reading books or book clubs. o The teacher will also ask the students about the order of events that occurred and if they have seen the clouds change when it rains. Assessment: o The students will be assessed during guided reading by running records and comprehension questions which will be asked during conferences. Management/Transitions: o During guided reading the students will be seated together with the teacher at the reading center. o The students will be spaced apart while reading independently so they do not distract one another. o The teacher will make sure there is room next to the student so she can come by to listen to them read. The student will turn slightly to whichever side of the student the teacher is on when reading aloud to her. o The rest of the class will be working on their own independent reading, which will take place on the rug. Differentiation: o There is none.
