Indian telecom operators are planning to invest a significantly lower proportion of their revenues over the next two years compared to their counterparts in China, Indonesia and Philippines, Fitch Ratings said.The Indian telcos combined 2013 capex guidance ($ 5-6 billion) represents just 17-19 per cent of industry revenue compared with 30 per cent in China and Indonesia and 20-21 per cent for the Philippines ($ 55-60 billion, $ 4-5 billion and $ 1-1.5 billion, respectively, Fitch said in a statement. Tata Teleservices on Wednesday said it will surrender telecom CDMA spectrum beyond 2.5 megahertz in all circles barring Delhi and Mumbai in protest against government move to charge one time fee for airwaves beyond this threshold. Huawei, today announced that it has developed an embedded optical time domain reflectometer (eOTDR) prototype with a largest-in-industry split ratio of up to 1:64. Emulation tests on live networks have shown that this prototype can accurately locate faults to within five meters, meaning that eOTDR technology is ready for commercial use on fiber to the home (FTTH) passive optical networks (PONs).
