Racksyst plug-in board power supply unit monitoring module ZB 470. The high capacity diodes and the relays for fault signalling can be clearly seen.
Application The reliable operation of a measuring instrument depends upon having a reliable power supply. In Racksyst systems two power supply units can be used together (redundant circuit) to provide the necessary degree of reliability. The power supply monitor ZB 470 is used to interconnect two supplies. It ensures that if the first unit fails, the standby unit is unaffected. It signals if one of the two units has failed.

Installation
Install outside the hazardous area, preferably in a rack. Ensure that the necessary contact protection is provided, observe the permissable ambient temperature and avoid excessively high atmospheric humidity which can result in condensation forming on the printed circuit board. We recommend the position next to the two Racksyst NT 470 power supply units as the best since in this position the clearance between the warm power units supply and the measuring instruments is increased.
If the rack has an external power supply the ZB 470 can be installed in any position. Racksyst measuring instruments can be mounted adjacent to the power supply unit monitoring module ZB 470 even when they feature an intrinsically safe signal input.
