Lab 3 - Cisco Call Manager Express GUI

Background and Objectives
Cisco Call Manager Express (CCME) comes with a web-based GUI. In this lab, you will use the basic CCME voice network created in the previous lab.

Part 1: Router Telephony Service Configuration

For this lab, your router will need its telephony web interface enabled.

Procedure
1. From the router command line. Enter the telephony services: Router(config)#telephony-service 2. Configure the web admin account at the routers telephony-service configuration for username admin with password cisco: Router(config-telephony)# web admin system name admin password cisco Router(config-telephony)# dn-webedit Router(config-telephony)# time-webedit 6. Point your web browser to the IP addresss ccme.html file of your router. It appears the Internet Explorer works best. The pull-down menus may not work in some browsers like Opera. http://172.16.xx.1/ccme.html Username: admin Password: cisco

7. You should see the Cisco Call Manager Express home page for your router:

Part 2: Add another Phone and Extension using the CCME GUI
Now that your CCME GUI has been configured, it is time to add a phone and extension.

Procedure
1. Go to Configure-System Parameters Maximum Number of IP Phones, from the previous lab is should be set to 3:

2. Change it to a Maximum Number of IP phones of 5 (it may be already set to 5 from another lab class). 3. Connect up a new (one you havent previously used) Cisco phone or a PC running Cisco IP Communicator softphone to your network. It will try to register to your CCME unsuccessfully. 4. Refresh your browser and look to see if the new phones MAC address appears in Configure - Phones:

5. Go to Configure Extensions and attempt to Add Extension. You should receive an error. Exam your routers telephony configuration and set the both max-dn and max-phones to to 10. After updating CME from the routers command prompt, you will need to update the GUI by going to the GUIs Administration tab Update System Info. 6. For each extension, add a Caller ID name:

6. Add a new extension and enter the following values: Extension number: 2204 Extension name: <your name> Label: Lobby Description: Cisco 79xx (whatever room you choose) (where xx refers to the phone model)

7. Then Select Add, the new extension should show up in the list. 8. Go to Configure Phones and select the new phone. 9. Select Button 1, Normal Ring and extension 2204. 10. Save then at the Change Phone window, click on the Change button at the bottom of the screen. A few OKs and you should see the new phone with extension:

11. Verify that it works by dialing it from another extension. 12. Part 3: Exploring CCME GUI Features:

This portion of the lab will configure some basic features of Cisco Call Manager Express: System Message, Hunt Groups,

Procedure

NOTE: You will have to reset each of the phones through the CCME GUI to load the new configurations. System Message 1. Go to Configure System Parameters System Message. Enter a system message and press the Set button. Where does this message appear? Directory Services 3. Go to Directory Services and add directory entries for each of your 4 extensions with a usernames (first name, last name of your choice) that match the Caller ID entered in previously. 4. Go to your Cisco phone and select directory services:

5. Demonstrate a directory search based on either a first name or last name of one of the extensions that youve created. Hunt Group 2. Go to Hunt Group Settings. Make a sequential hunt group #1 using pilot # 2000, that will call all of your extensions with a 10 second timeout. From your POTS extension 5001, dial 2000 and verify that the hunt group works. Broadcast Hunt Group (Call Blast) 3. Go to Broadcast Hunt Group and use pilot 2001, add in all your phone extensions with a 10 second timeout. From any phone dial 2001 and verify that the broadcast hunt group works. Information URL 4. This may not work due to a bug in this version of CCME. If it does not work, from the telephony interface, type:
Router(config-telephony)# url idle http://phone-xml.berbee.com/menu.xml idle-timeout 10

8.Restart your phones by selecting your phones in Configure-Phones then select Reset. Wait 10 seconds to see the Idle URL. Sorry for the poor quality. You will need to upload the new file using tftp. Do NOT write over the original MOH file. Use the following website for a resource for .au format audio: http://www.glasspages.org/audio.html Note: it uses .au format for audio or 8kx8bit wav file and only the POTS phone will receive MOH. Paging 12. Go to Configure Extension Add, create a new extension 2002

13. Go to Configure- Phones and with each phone listed, set the Paging Extension to 2002.

14. From your POTS phone, dial 2002 and verify that paging works. Speed Dial 15. Go to Configure-Phones and with each phone listed, add in the extensions of the other phones in the speed dial information section.
