Proposed Installation of Sidewalk Baricades Along Alabang-Zapote Road, Las Pias City RATIONALE Due to the norms of the

residents of Las Pias City, where they are very fond of crossing the Alabang-Zapote road by jaywalking, there is a high risk of accidents that may occur. The sidewalk barricades aims to protect the pedestrians and motorists from accidents and fatalities. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The installation of the sidewalk barricades aims to lessen road accidents along Alabang-Zapote Road, Las Pias City. RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1. What is the present record of pedestrian and vehicle accidents at Las Pias City? 2. What specific accidents were caused by jaywalking? 3. How will the sidewalk barricades lessen the amount of accidents in the area? METHODS TO BE USED TO ANSWER RESEARCH QUESTIONS In able to answer the first two research questions, the researcher will use descriptive method. Statistical data of road accidents will be retrieved from the Las Pias Police Department and Las Pias Traffic and Management Office. And to answer the last research question, the researcher will use action and descriptive methods. A complete model of the Alabang-Zapote road in Las Pias with sidewalk barricades will be laid out. And then, for the model to be ideal, it will be assumed that the pedestrians will use footbridges and pedestrian lanes allotted in the area. Statistical analysis will be used to determine whether the sidewalk barricades are ideal and necessary.

Proposed Sewerage Treatment Facility at Zapote, Las Pias City RATIONALE The quality of wastewater being discharged on the waterways of Las Pias City is very poor. Due to this present condition, it pollutes the water bodies along the coast line. Also, marine life along the creeks and river, as wells as on the seas cannot survive this state. Constructing a sewerage treatment facility is very necessary in order to address this problem. The facility is ideally to be built at Zapote, Las Pias City where the end stream of the river system of the city is located. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The hazardous elements mixed in the wastewater are very high. Existence of such materials if not threatens; it eliminates the marine life on the sea and river. In this reason, the sewerage treatment facility will try to reduce the contents of hazardous elements on the wastewater. RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1. What are the hazardous elements present on the wastewater in Las Pias City? 2. What is the specific amount of each hazardous element? 3. What processes will the sewerage treatment facility be using to reduce these hazardous elements? What equipments will be needed for each treatment process? METHODS TO BE USED TO ANSWER RESEARCH QUESTIONS In able to answer the first two research questions, the researcher will use descriptive method. Wastewater samples will be collected from the end stream and then will be examined on credible laboratories. And to answer the last research question, the researcher will use action and descriptive methods. A complete model of the sewerage treatment facility will be introduced. Then for every treatment process, data will be collected and analyzed in order to statistically whether the existence of such sewerage treatment facility is ideal and necessary.

Proposed Desludging of Waterways Inside Pilar Village, Las Pias City RATIONALE Heavy rain fall tends to flood the streets of Pilar Village, Las Pias City. The floodwater, which contains garbage and other debris, goes to the waterways of the village. After the rainfall, those wastes pile up. And after sometime, it turns into sludge which occupies a large volume on the waterways. By means of desludging, the floodwater capacity of the waterways of the village will increase; thus reducing the possibility of flooding. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Desludging of the waterways inside Pilar Village, Las Pias City will increase the floodwater capacity of the waterways. RESEARCH QUESTIONS 1. What is the current capacity of the Pilar Villages waterway? 2. What is the design capacity of the waterway? 3. How will the waterways will be desluged? 4. What will be the final capacity of the waterways after the sludge have been removed? METHODS TO BE USED TO ANSWER RESEARCH QUESTIONS In able to answer the first two research questions, the researcher will use descriptive method. The current capacity will be calculated by means of getting the actual measurement of the cross section of the waterways. The design capacity of the waterway will be retrieved from the Las Pias City Engineering Office. And to answer the last two research questions, the researcher will use action and descriptive methods. By using heavy equipments such as backhoes, the waterways will be desludged. After the removal of sludge, its volume will be recorded. Then, statistical methods will be used to determine the final capacity of the waterways.
