MONDAY week #1

Students will begin learning the locations for each state in the United G6.3.6 Locate and name the states States using jigsaw pieces around Nevada. representing each one.

TUESDAY week #1

Students will continue learning the names and locations of each state as G6.3.6 Locate and name the states seen on the map of the United around Nevada. States. Students will practice using the Smart board.

WEDNESDAY week #1

Students will begin learning the names of each state capital by G5.3.2 Differentiate between a city singing along to a capital song and by and a state using appropriate filling in the missing state or capital examples. working with a partner.

FRIDAY week #1

This lesson requires time in the computer lab. MONDAY week #2

This lesson will focus on students using creativity and using their imagination. The students will be able to write a postcard and add it to the class bulletin board.

G6.3.4 List ways people view their own communities, i.e., a ranching community, a tourist destination.

TUESDAY week #2

This lesson will focus on the students playing a Jeopardy type of game with information on different topics for different states in the United States. The students memory and understanding will be tested.

G5.3.5 Construct a simple map including a title, symbols, and directions from a birds eye view. G6.3.4 List ways people view their own communities, i.e., a ranching community, a tourist destination.

G5.3.2 Differentiate between a city and a state using appropriate examples.

Make Jeopardy game on powerpoint software.

WEDNESDAY week #2

This lesson will focus on the students wrapping up everything they learned during the course of this unit. The students will host an Open House to their families to display their artwork and work they have completed.

G5.3.5 Construct a simple map including a title, symbols, and directions from a birds eye view. G6.3.4 List ways people view their own communities, i.e., a ranching community, a tourist destination.

G5.3.2 Differentiate between a city and a state using appropriate examples.

Send out Open House letters to parents.
