4. What is the purpose of the project?

Required: 4a. What need did you identify that led you to create the project or product?
Although MTRP already has an established guided tour program, there are not volunteers available at any time the park is open. This leads to a large number of people simply viewing the park, but not learning the history, the various types of vegetation, animals, and habitats that exist in the park, and how to protect the area and nature in general through conservation and recycling.

For students: Different applications based on grade level (Tailor content provided through the program to state education standards) Offer devices to borrow during school trips (loaned device that student can use to participate during the visit) For visitors: Multiple language options (English primary, spanish secondary- assess need for further language after 9 months) Section 508 compliance with software and device

Required: 4f. What will your audience learn that will help meet their need?
*Tied to education standards. For example- sixth grade students will learn about geology of the park, as well as the concepts of producers, consumers, decomposers, and resources. All participants will receive information regarding conservation practices and recycling. Participants will be able to recognize the correct practices to be applied in conservation, and will be able to identify recyclable materials found in their home. Participants will be more informed on conservation and recycling issues in their homes and neighborhoods. Ideally, participants would become involved in local clean-up efforts or start them in their respective neighborhoods. 5. What are the key project inputs? [Optional] MTRP: Subject matter experts to provide relevant information for project. Images and sounds of wildlife, geological features, habitas found at the park. SDUSD: Staff members from local district to assist in review of content/validity of questions for students. SDG&E: Funding and approval as necessary Design and development team to inform of software and hardware requirements for the project.

Increased foot traffic (self-tours) at Mission Trails Regional Park and Visitors Center Increased publicity of the park due to the improved technology and innovative new approach to a natural park setting.
